hi linda..thanks so much for responding to my post below about low ferritin and high iron.
after reviewing my labs for the past years i have noticed high tibc, iron saturation and high iron serums multiple times. at that time never ever took iron in any form.
when iwas dxd with hypo...the doc tested ferritin and found it to be low at 11 and suggested iron.
when this happened bc i was becoming more proactive and looking over old labs and noticing the other elevations..i got worried about taking iron even with the low ferritin. the doc didnt ahve any answers so i kinda just stopped with the iron.( at this time my b12 was tested and was normal at around 800)
i found a doc who was goign to test me for some problem in regards to high iron( hemochromocytosis?)...but i did nto follow through bc he got really flakey etc.
so i found my current doc who when i asked him to test my iron due to elevations...did retest and now the total is fine. so...i dropped the issue.
but i still wonder what to do and what to think and if i should push more.
my endo didnt believe in the ferritin issue... but i am staying with him for now bc he keeps me on armour which i love.
so any thoughts about pernicous anemia...being i have "normal b12", yet have fatigue and often high iron/tibc/saturation and yet low ferritin ? ( looking at all old tests... one month all abnormal high..the next month all iron in normal ranges..back and forth. but has been flagged and circled by docs alot as well.)
oh one q via hypo.. if dxd with hash's due to high antibodies... do you still have hashi's if retested and anibodies are not detected and back and forth ..sometimes have them sometimes not? confused? ty
perhaps i should pay for a b12 shot for you bc i am sure i just exhausted the heck out of you!!!
linda thanks so much...and i am glad your dad got dxd so he can get the shots he needs!! xoxoxoxox jenn
edited to add..i ahve had hemoglobin and hemocrit and red cells tested ..and all normal in range. ( edited again..except one time looking back at labs that were flagged high)

Jen, if you had been taking folic acid supplements prior to the b12 test, the results of the b12 may not be accurate (in that case a Schilling test would need to be performed). Just thought I'd throw that out there in case.
I think you should get the doc to investigate whether or not you have hemochromatosis, since that is the only other reason I can find for your blood test patterns. I wouldn't supplement with iron until that was ruled out. You may need to see a hematologist.

hi linda... i am so embarrassed how i rambled in my post , but i thank you for responding!! nope no folate or folic acid or anything during the testing.
oh the one dr i said was going to test me for something , it actually wasnt hemo..it was locah... late onset congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
i think i should see a hemologist too... i guess i feel like the special hemotologist may not want to see me since my gp's and endo's dont think my tests are weird.
but i will definately look into it further!! thank you linda!!!
xoxo jenn

I do not have enough posts on the board yet to reply o your PM, but my iron serum is low now, but it was high and my saturation is high now for 2 months. I just had the DNA test done for hemochromatosis yesterday, here is my email, I will let you know the results, should be back in about 2 weeks. I am so tired though, my doctor said my Vitamin D level is really low, and it could be causing all of my symptoms.
