Default Nobody told me the pain would be this bad!

My story: Thursday of last week I started noticing some dark brown discharge. I was reassured that this was normal and no big deal. Saturday when I woke up, it was no longer dark brown but bright red. I called my dr. but she felt it was just a little bleeding and no biggie. She put me on bedrest for the weekend. Midnight Sat night I started cramping like normal AF cramps. Around 2am I started bleeding very badly with lots of huge clots. I called the Dr. again and again she told me stay home and keep my feet up. I didn't like her answer so I went to the ER anyway. According to my last period I'm supposed to be 8 weeks along. When they ran my beta it was only 4,000 and they couldn't find a heartbeat on either the external or internal u/s. My dr told me to come in first thing this morning (Monday) and they will recheck me and just confirm the status of my pregnancy. After reading the radiology report from the ER, it seems I was measuring 3 weeks behind and everything was shaped abnormally. So I'm almost positive that I'm miscarrying.

My problem is this....the bleeding as almost completely stopped now (only when I go to the bathroom and wipe, there are still a few clots, but I'm not bleeding through pads anymore) I'm cramping very badly. I'm still only taking tylenol just in case, and I have a heat pad on my tummy...but how long does this pain normally last..it's horrible and has prevented me from sleeping more than 2 hours tonight. thanks ladies.

I can't tell you the answer to the pain - When we lost our Christopher they had to actually induce a regular delivery. I just wanted to tell you *hugs* and I am so sorry you are going through this.

im so sorry hun that your going through this. its truly horrible.

I got bad craps, they came like contractions in waves. The last miscarriage was so much worse. I went to ER, the baby was stuck in the cervix. it was unbelievebly painful, and my back was killing me. A nurse and my husband were holding me down with each contraction. The doctor went in with forceps and got baby out. she was 9 weeks in size. the pain is made so much worse with the emotional pain as well.

I was jabbed in my bum in the hospital with some pain relief which helped, after the baby came out my pain was basically gone. You may need a d and c, seems strange that you've been left to suffer. Cramps are from your cervix opening and uterus contracting. Its very traumatic, take time out to recover and catch up on sleep after it all. Tramol is good and safe. And try warm baths. I found being on my side with knees tucked up helped too, i got the nurse to rub my back and that helped.

*big cyber hug*

Thanks ladies. I finally broke down and called the on-call dr. tonight. I explained that everything started Sat. afternoon and it's now Tuesday evening and it's worse than ever. I also told him that I'm still having a large number of large 1/2 dollar sized clots coming out, several an hour. I'm not bleeding much, only when I go to the bathroom, but it's just the clots, they are so big I can feel them coming down and out, it's so weird and gross!

The dr. asked which I was more concerned with and I told him the pain. I have only slept about 4-5 hours all weekend. I got off work Saturday morning after working all day. I slept from 9am until 4 pm Saturday evening at that point I stayed up until Sunday around 4pm. I slept for about 4 hours and then was up all night Sunday night, and Monday night was about the same. So needless to say since Saturday I haven't hardly slept at all, everytime I fall asleep the pain is so bad I wake up. I can't take baths because I'm still bleeding and that would just be gross.

Either way, they called me in some medicine which has helped a ton, I did have to double up on the medicine, but it has calmed down the pain a lot. Although something that concerned me was that the dr. said he wasn't worried about the pain, he was worried that I was having so many blood clots. So I have to go in tomorrow and sit in the office and wait to fit in for them to check me again. Part of me is worried that they will want to do a D&C, but then another part of me is I would rather them just do it and clean me out and get me ready for next time, not to mention the fact of getting rid of the pain and bleeding.

I guess we will find out tomorrow and I'll update later.

I'm very sorry about it all, especially your loss, but this physical pain is such a reminder! I hope they can help you make a decision that takes care of it. If something is retained inside, you can have a lot more pain and clots, so a d&c is sometimes needed. (((Hugs)))
