Can't wait to go for my blood works next cycle,I have high hoped for this one
you can't believe how many blood tests I have done in the past few months, its funny I have all different symptoms and yet they can't tell me whats wrong with me,
I just changed my endo, the nwe one is very educated she thinks I may have adrenal problem since my dheas is abit high.
I'm thin, with some how regular periods although before 3 months of bcp, recent hair loss and suffered from severe acne since 13,some hirsutismand thats all
the funny thing is that my total and free testosterone is way too low for my symptoms .
she's ordered 17 hydroxyprogesterone...maaan if I ever get diagnosed

Thanks for sharing this information!
Interesting how after the steriods some of the issues and levels came down?
Makes me wonder if short term would help me. My DHEAS is 550.. I had and ACTH test but normal levels of 17 hydroxyprogesterone and 17 hydroxypregnenlone and 11 deoxycortisol before ACTH, then one hour after 17 hydroxypregnenolone and 11 deoxycortisol went up quite a bit, but MD said not high enough for LOCAH....She said I have adrenal hyperactivity, but nothing to do about it.. That steriods have too many side effects. Still not sure I am convinced!
I just had the ACTH test for this yesterday. I'm anxious to find out what the deal is because I just want to get on with my life and figure out what the new plan is (if it has to change).

I just changed my endo, the nwe one is very educated she thinks I may have adrenal problem since my dheas is abit high.
I wish I knew a good endrocinologist. I do a lot of research on my own. I have high dheas, normal testosterone too. No symptoms on the BCP. One endo ruled out NCAH another said I have it. I supposedly have mostly adrenal and some ovarian causes of excess androgen. Sometimes the adrenal causes the ovary to get cycts and the cycle of hormones disruption continues.
I find the diagnosis of NCAH hard to stomach. I believe I have adrenal problems because i am a high stress person, I had a great deal of stress around the time of my first menstration (age 13) too. I think that contributes. I do not have typical NCAH stuff like oily skin and growing fast as a kid (I was the very smallest in class always). But I am not typical pcos at all either. Still NCAH is an unflattering diagnosis for a woman I think, even moreso than pcos.

I agree with you.even if it's Ncah or whatever adrenal problem there is not much we can do.I mean the treatments are corticosteroids, the side effects are way more than the benefits.
I'm so frustrated still waiting for blood test on 3rd day of my cycle which will never come ..then what, possibly adrenal problem and for sure spiro again.
its a battle that never ends,I felt much better when my last endo told me its pcos.but more I think abt it ,I'm positive its not pco.I've tried everything low carb diet, buckwheat for dci, work out.. nothing really works.

I agree it is furstrating, even with a diagnosis you are still left just dealing with it on your own. It is a constant battle.
I also eat a good diet and have greatly reduced my carb intake (though was weary of them before) the last couple months with no real change. I feel a tad better but that is to be expected just becuase I am consciously eating nutricious food and not eating any non nutricious food. So exercising and good diet help but no more than it does for any other human who makes those changes - I don't think it corrects my hormonal condition like some other pcos women.
Keep me posted on any insights you get.

i have wondered if i had this for a few weeks. I need to ask my doctor. apparently it affects jews of ashkenazic decent (check!), short stature (check!) and pcos symptoms (check!) yep so I dunno.... doctors are really confused sometimes with diagnosis. I went to stanford, YES stanford hospital. supposed to be one of the best. didn't do any tests on me and told me my facial hair was hereditary. lol!
AT last
I got my results today.guess what ...my17 hydroxy progesterone is elevated.she wants to do the stimulating test now but I have to pay $100 for the injection.
here is my test result
17 hydroxy progesterone 16.2 normal 1-11
Androstenedione 10.9 normal up to 11.9
Dheas 6.7 normal up to 9.2
total T 1.9 less than 4
I wonder why my dheas is not elevated.

Anyone have normal 17 hydroxy pregnenolone or 11 deoxycortisol baseline but elevated after ACTH stimulation test? Mine increased quite a bit from low to very high, but the 17 hydroxyprogesterone didn't increase that much... My MDs don't agree on my conditition and one said it was close to a 3-beta hydroxylase LOCAH??
