Default NON fasting glucose levels?

I have been feeling awful lately and my dr. did a wellness workup and one of the tests she did was for my glucose levels. I had this test done at 3 in the afternoon and had eaten breakfast, lunch and a snack by this point. My glucose levels were at 81, she said anything between 65 and 110 are considered normal and they are fine. I had never heard of a glucose or insulin test that does not require you to NOT fast before hand...is this accurate or what? I had my insulin levels and glucose tested (fasting) 2 years ago and they were low. Should I ask for a insulin and glucose fasting test or would the results be the same essentially?

If you were not fasting, it's called a Random Blood Sugar Test. Anything under 100 is considered fine. If you are concerned ask for a fasting insulin and glucose test each year. My doc does them on every patient over 30 I think, even without special considerations.
