Default Non IR on Metformin

Hi! I have a question and hoping some of you can help. I'm non IR and was put on Metformin 1500mg for annovulation. My doctor tested me to see if I was ovulating after 6 months and I still wasn't ovulating, so she upped my dosage to 2000mg. Still not ovulating and got a stomach so bloated and distended, my belly button actually stuck out like I was preggers!! I saw her a couple of days ago and dropped it back down to 1500mg/day.

I'm thinking about quitting it since I'm so tired of being bloated all of the time - I hate it!! Do I really need to take it if I'm not IR (my insulin level was only 6) and my sugar is normal and thyroid tests all came back normal. I still have oily skin, hirutism, etc, but are the side effects of the medicine worth it????

Thanks for all of your info!!

It sounds like your Testosterone levels are not going down enough with Metformin. Are you having those levels tested? Metformin did help me Ovulate. It dropped my Testosterone levels quickly (119->40 in two months). Unfortunately it didn't help with the hair issues. I take anti androgens for that. (Flutamide and Spiro) Which you can't take if you are TTC.
It seems like you've given Metformin a chance to work. If you are not TTC maybe you can ask for anti andrgens or another safe alternative to Metformin if TTC.
Good luck
