Metformin destroyed my digestive system
Now on Avandamet, which is a wonder drug. Can't recommend it highly enough. Ask your doctor for it if you're worried about Metformin side effects.
I also have ME, hence the "tired" user name.
Contemplating hysterectomy but have to lose weight first. |

My Mood: Points: 1,397.69 Bank: 7,910.53 Total Points: 9,308.22 | Waving at trains
A little boy in uniform
Waves madly at the track
And on the whooshing 3.05
One passenger waves back
She knows he couldn't see her
But still it makes her smile
A relief from field upon field upon field
As the diesel swallows the miles
A cat on a fence, a man on a gate
The towns and villages pass
A couple of walkers in matching blue coats
And a lonely horse put out to grass
Though there's iron and litter and graffiti
There's rolled up bales of grain
There is still some magic to be had
In a journey on a train
You can see the way it used to be
The land, before men came,
How temporary the brickwork is
How nature isn't tamed
The flowers by the trackside
That use trains to sow their seed
The rabbits who ignore the sound
Of humans' russhing speed
They were here before the trains came
They'll be here after they're gone
The sun will shine, the rain will fall
As the carriages roll on
A grouse on a red brick culvert
A car park of glinting cars
A willow, an oak, a buddleia
To cover the landscape's scars
Tunnels to make your ears pop
Bridges to make your head spin
There's no denying the cleverness
There's no denying the din!
So although the price is enormous
And the glamour is on the wane
There is still some magic to be had
In a journey on a train.

He has told me in the past that one of the favorite things his professor ever said to him was-- "When you are writing a new poem or a song, you should be able to pick up that peice of paper or your journal and shake all of the "details" off. I wants to see blood, and sunsets, and the smell of coffee when you are sleep deprived, I want to see imagery!" I'm sure I'm not doing that quote any justice right now (DF would probably correct me) but I always liked that idea of writing out a new poem and then picking up the paper and having all of the imagery "fall off" ..lol.)
Anway-- long story short was your poem reminded me of that because of your crafty use of imagery and attention to detail. That kind of poem could easily be translated into a song as well.
Nice work-- keep writing and keep sharing!
