Hey there. I posted this on the TTC board, but thought maybe you could help. I'm taking Clomid 50mg, and my CM is basically nonexistant. I didn't have time to order Pre-Seed this month. Is there anything I can do to increase production of CM, so that we have a better chance of conceiving? I know that I can take Robotussin, but I don't know when to take it, how much, or how often. Any other suggestions?

i used pre-seed ... but tried the Robotussin and didn't see much difference, make sure you use the type with no letters after the name (like Dm, etc) .. i started after my last day of clomid ... threw to O date ... i just took a swig from the bottle every morn and night . lol

Robitussin or even just generic tussin, (much cheaper and same stuff) will only thin out what you have. As the PP said, only use tussin without any letters following it. The problem is Clomid dries you up so much that if you don't have anything to begin with, it doesn't help. Some suggestions to give you good EWCM include:

Eat baby carrots
Drink lots and lots of water
Drink a cup of green tea everyday until you ovulate. (can be hot or iced and even flavored if you like)

Green tea has really helped me in the past.

I have also heard that you can use canola oil as a lubricant because it is sperm friendly. My friend has used actual egg whites, but to me that is risky. It just seems like the egg whites could carry bacteria.

But Mimi is right from my experience, too, and you have to have some to thin out. I don't have a bit of a problem with cf when I'm not on clomid, but I don't ovulate on my own either. One of my gf's had the same problem, and she got the bfp around the sixth or seventh month of clomid.

I was in the store looking and tussin and I noticed that musinex has the the same ingredient at a higher dosage. I would much rather take a pill.

Musinex works just as well...and it is great for those that don't like to swing from the robi bottle. :-)

My OB/GYN gave me a prescription for estradiol(estrogen) for 4 1/2 days after ending the 5 days of Clomid for just your problem. Can you ask your doctor to call in a prescription to your pharmacy and you can pick it up? I haven't started my Clomid round yet, so I'm not sure about the dry CM yet. Hope all goes well!!

Thank you so much everyone! These are great suggestions. If we don't conceive this cycle, I will ask my OB if Estrogen is right for us. I had such a high P4 last month, which meant I should have been able to get preg, so I'm frustrated and want to so everything possible to make it happen this month! Thanks again for your support. Any more advice would be welcome!
