Default noob from the uk

ummm... i just spent a good 15-30mins writing this huge post and i when to post it and the forum logged me out for my inactivity ¬_¬ i cant help it that it takes me ages to put things in words properly and sentences that make sence oh well, here's the gist of hat i wrote

im 23 and live in england.. and was diagnosed on Monday where my GP told me that since i didnt want to get pregnant and there no cure for it there no point treating my sypmtoms so that i ovulate and have semi normal hormone lvls.

i have no period whatsoever for the past 15months and ever since the age of 10 my periods have been inconsistant(yes i started when i was 10) .. i always thought it was could i could just not see the patten or hugely long cycles or something. and ive been over weight since the age of 9 or something, im told that when i was 8ish i was kinda skinny so i must of suffered from this forever with out realising it. and the symptoms are just getting worse enough for me to bother to see a doctor (i never see doctors about anything)

so apart from my doctor not wanting to treat me or help me loose weight my bmi is like 37. i managed to get her to give me a referral to see a gynochologist.. although after researching some more a dietitian or and endro... watsit (hormonal doctor person) really would have been better for me.. although i see that i need to cut down on my carb intake which is going to be very hard for me. and to cut down on my sugar on top of that will make me suffer major withdrawals, and i shall b dead to the world.

amongst my hot flushes abdominal pain, funky coloured discharge, male patten body hair (it doesn't grow very fast but everyone loves hairy boobs ¬_¬), insomnia, depression and lack of periods. does anyone else have clicking sore joints?? they click really loud but if i try to show anyone what i mean it stops clicking and it hurts sometimes when it clicks tooo.

Hey Turtle,

I was in the same boat as you but my Gp thought it best to refer my to GYN now so that i din;t have to wait for ages when I did start to think about having children. I would def discuss your other issues with the GYN as they look at finding ways to help all that.....good luck x

ARGHH!! I hate to hear about doctors who think that since you're not at the point of wanting to get pregnant, they don't have to treat you. And then they stupidly tell you not to worry. Yeah. It's normal for a woman's body not to cycle. RIGHT!

Get another doctor quick! And if that gyno doesn't know how to treat PCOS, find another. Actually, I'd call the doctor's office to find out how much experience this doctor has treating PCOS. If this doctor doesn't have much experience (beyond prescribing bcp), I'd find another.

Yes, this condition affects fertility, but it also affects cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose levels, etc. And why shouldn't you want to be as healthy as you can be? Since the PCOS complicates this, doctors should be ready to treat this. If anything, this is the way to prepare a woman for a healthier life overall, and a healthier pregnancy when she's ready.

Sorry to go on, but this really irks me. Making that list is a great strategy for your appt. Good luck!

yep my docter even said i had high choletrol and since diebeties is in my family anyway all she said to me was watch what i eat.. yeah i walways watch it before it goes into my mouth.. which is why im a little anoyed she didnt refer me to a dietision. cuz preventative stuff is better then waiting for these conditions to progress on me.
i dont even know the name of the gyno to look him/her up so i just have to wait for the appontment to find out which random gyno and the hostpital they have given me. and hopefully the gyno wont be one who just treats people who are trying to get pregnant.

i had my gyno apontment yestderday.. and although it was a man he wasnt a scary man (im such a child ¬_¬ a child who hates guys)
so i was quiet happy that i got on with him which is always a good sign (i genrally hate docters too) he even agreed with me that my gp is stupid .. he looked at a copy of blood test results and was like.. yeah these are useless.. she didnt even test for progesterone *he looked down the list a bit more* or any male hormone at all.
but yeah from what hes heard from me he thinks its pcos and is redooing all the tests my gp asked for (just incase i actully have some thyroid condition) but with the right people... who know exsatly what there looking for.
if only nurses could actully find a vein to stab though .. its like i dont have any in my arms.. she practically took it from my elbow this time.

but i just read some one elses post commenting bout how if you dont have a period for 3/4months it ends up being really heavy cuz the linnings so think and lasts longer...so im now dreading when my period somes back.. though the other day i had pms which is really weird and ive been spotting too last week which is a 1st... but when my period finally desided to come back im robly going to just be sat on the toilet for a whole day.. since its been almost a year and a half since ive had one.. though only 5months with my contionuous period pain.. you kinda get used to it after a while.. ijust think its going to be soo much worse when my periods back.
roll on metaformin!! make me loose some weight(whn its prescribed to me) roll on vanquria (no more beard in 5/10years whooo)

only now someones told me to move to surrey miles and miles away from coventry and id get a nice job and work with kids and get some qualifications with the job and place to stay quite cheap but all aranged with the job... but now im like.. if i applys for the job and ive just found a nice docter that will do stuff.. ill have to do it all again in surrey... like my friend is doing.. her gp in cardif said i think you might have pcos.. and wanted to test her for it only my friend finished uni and came home but then got a job in surrey.. so she has a lot of moving around with docters and stuff....
