I'm in the same boat. I have an appt. with an endo here that does laser treatments in his office. Just hoping he can bill it under PCOS and they'll cover it.

I got that suggestion from one of the ladies here... August75 or something I think her nickname was.

A few others have had luck (but I think one was in Canada).

anyway, what insurance do you have? You might be able to find out something on their clinical policy board and call them and ask them if the treatment would be covered if your dr. submitted proof that you have a hormonal problem and need this for your mental health. Some will (like mine, but my dr. is stupid) and some consider it fully cosmetic.

thanks for posting Wiggly...I asked my gyn to write the letter (he DX me with PCOS) and will also get one from my psychologist (hopefully) BUT I have blue cross blue shield of Texas and they are pretty picky.

I called them and they need the letters from the doctors as well as the laser place (derm's office) but both derms I consulted say there are no procedure codes for the laser cause it is cosmetic.

I would think the derms would want me to get the ok from my ins company cause I would be more inclined to get more done = more $ for them. I dunno maybe they don't want to deal with all the crapola insurance paperwork?

I am just so sick of dealing with this and want to get started with the laser treatments

heh yeah, my derm told me their code was all cosmetic and I told the billing person that maybe she should make a new code for medical treatment. She wasn't a very nice billing person.

Have you tried calling around to all of the ob/gyns and endo's on your plan and asking if they do in-house laser? I KNOW at least one person here has had the treatment done and I found someone here that does it but I have to go see him first.

Good Luck with it. I'm about to just give up and pay for it myself if I can't get insurance to pay for it!
