Exclamation Norethisterone

Hi all, just a quick question to ask. When I saw the gynae consultant 2 weeks ago today, he gave me norethisterone to stop the bleeding (I'd been bleeding for 3 full weeks at the time) and I have an appointment to see him on Monday. At the time, he only gave me 2 weeks worth of norethisterone because I had to go back in 2 weeks but today he's busy hence me not seeing him until Monday. I had a form from him to drop in at my docs telling them what tablets he'd given me. So my course of norethisterone runs out today, leaving me 2 free days until Monday. So do I go to the doctors and get another prescription for it as I'm worried my bleeding will start again or will I be ok for 2 days? I'm really not sure what to do about this.

Many thanks

Anz,

I used to have to take norethisterone (in the days of endless periods) and in my case a week on the drug was enough and the bleed didn't usually start again. The time you have spent on the drug should have been enough to break the cycle of bleeding.

It's still worth seeing your doctor if you are concerned though.

Thanx muchly Lisa, I was in 2 minds about getting more from the doc as I didn't think 2 days of not taking it would matter. Fingers crossed I won't start over the weekend.

Anz,

I used to take Norethisterone. And it did stop the bleeding whilst taking it but once stopped I had a withdrawl bleed which lasted 7 days then had no bleeding until 28 days later...

hope this helps
kind regards
Nikki

I don't know if anyone can help but I am on my 12th day of taking Norethisterone and feel like crap. The doc has prescribed this to start my AF as I have not had one since 01.01.

I should take this for 14 days and then my period should come within 2 days. Has anyone else had any side effects from this tablet? I was feeling fine before I took this!!

I can't say that I've had any side effects, it left me feeling tired but I was tired all the time and sleeping for over 14 hours at night anyway, since my latest attempts to get my PCOS sorted, I've been sleeping soooo much as I've had severe depression with it too. I was given norethisterone to stop my bleeding as I'd been bleeding for over 3 weeks without a break and it was so heavy and full of clots and causing me a lot of pain. I took my last tablet last night with my dinner so fingers crossed I won't start this weekend. I see the consultant on Monday anyways so I guess we'll see what happens then.

Ah well my period started this morning, which explains my bad stomach ache last night, and it's still here this morning...feels like someone's stuck a knife in my stomach. Still I see the consultant today so we'll see what he says. Wish me luck girls

Well I took my last tablet on Sunday and I am still eagerly awaiting AF

Does anyone know how long it usually takes, I thought it would have arrived by now?
