Unhappy Normal for bleeding to increase after tissue passes?

Hi guys,

So, I finally passed my retained tissue over the weekend (after 3 weeks, it's a long story.) Anyway, noticed yesterday that I am bleeding way more now. I was at the ER on Saturday and they told me my uterus is now empty but I have a slightly thickened lining now. Could it be the lining coming out? It's bright red and just starting to get long stringy clots. Ok tmi, I know, but I guess these message boards are no-holds barred. Going to the doctor AGAIN tomorrow for yet another ultrasound in the a.m. (transvaginal u/s are gross as it is, but with bleeding ... ew) but have been starting to get "oh no what if I start hemorraging?" thoughts. It's now been 21 days of bleeding already and I can't believe it's getting stronger at this point Anyone remember what it's like not to live with a pad attached to you 24 hours a day? *sigh*

Amy,

My bleeding slowed way down RIGHT after I passed the remaining placenta, but it did pick up the next day. I was mad, too, because I kept wondering "Oh no! What if there's still something in there?!"

That was about 2 weeks ago, Since then, every day the bleeding got slower and slower. For the last week or more, it's been more like spotting, but off and on for a few hours. WARNING: Just because it stops does NOT mean that it's done! I have a 24 hour rule - I don't feel safe that it's over until I've gone 24 hours with NO bleeding. I'm at hour 6 of this round (and this is like, round 12) so we'll see.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with you, but it's definitely a good idea to see the doctor anyway. I'll pray for you that everything is fine! Let us know!!! *HUGS*

P.S. Today is day 21 for me, too. I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm thinking about changing my name to Maxi. *sigh*

Thanks for writing Bekki, I can always count on you for a great response! I'll write back tomorrow after my appointment. There are so many scares with this process. I'm really glad your bleeding has slowed and my fingers are crossed for you that you make your 24-hour rule soon. I'm glad to have an appointment tomorrow, but I was really hoping to be done with the doctor's office for a while. I know they're being extra cautious by calling me in each week, which is good, but it's getting to be a bit much with all of these appointments at work. Fingers crossed that we can both feel more normal soon. Have a good night ... your Maxi joke totally made me laugh.

I know how you feel. I have my fingers crossed for you that this is over for you soon. Up until 2 days ago I was getting lots of clots and stringy stuff. Over the weekend I felt a weird cramp and had yet another lovely clot thingy (not even sure what it was) drop into the toilet. But ever since then the bleeding for me slowed right down. My doctor recommended exercising to help shed my thick lining (which was 17.4mm). I exercised on my treadmill like a nut and bled like crazy but I think it did the trick. I was scared I was going to bleed so much and shrivel up like a raisin! But I think its the bodies way of cleaning out everything. Make sure to keep your iron intake up. Thinking about you and sending you a big cyber-hug.

Good luck and feel free to keep PMing me. I look forward to my personal messages everyday
