Default Normal or Not?

I just had a transvaginal ultrasound recently for left sided pelvic pain during ovulation. The Dr. said the results where normal. I got the report myself and wanted to post what it said.

The uterus and ovaries were or normal shape and size with no fibroids seen. The endometrial line was 9mm 9got my period 3 days after the u/s). There was some free fluid which is indicative of ovulation. Small follicles are noted in both the right and left ovaries.

Is it normal to see follicles in the ovaries. The dr. said this was normal but i wanted to see if anyone else had an opionions on that.

Thank you in advance.

Nikki

From the way my doctor explained it to me, this sounds normal. Those follicles are probably just the eggs that didn't mature and will go away on their own. Of course, I'm not a doctor and don't play one on T.V. so I could be wrong.

i'm pretty sure the follicles are normal... when you get ready to produce an egg several follicles begin to produce... normally only one ends up maturing though... the others just kind of die down again... so maybe you were in the middle of producing an egg or had just released one and the others hadn't gone away yet...

Thank you everyone for the replies! I had just ovulated at that point as for some reason I ovulate 5-7 days before I begin to menstruate. Its been that way since I first started and I know I can count on getting my period 5-7 days after I get that pain in my left side.

I am not sure if the pain is not intestinal either as my stomach swells up with air when I get the pain. The pain usually comes around ovulation time but I have also had it at other times in my cycle so I am not sure what it is at this point.

Androgens, FSH, LH, and insulin all tested normal too so now I have no idea whats going on.
