Is it normal for PCOS symptoms to lessen or disappear after pregnancy or miscarriage? Hi Ladies-
I think the women on this board might have the knowledge to answer my very specific question. First let me tell you my story...
I've suffered with pcos since high school, but was only diagnosed 2 years ago after going off bcp's. I have high androgen levels, rarely ovulate on my own, and have battling acne on my back since adolescence...however, during the 10+ years I was on bcp's, I didn't suffer from the bacne. Once I went off the bcp's, the bacne came back within a couple of months, and it came back worse than I ever remembered it. I also didn't ovulate or get my period for 6 months. I went back on the pill after 6 months of pcos symptom hell, and then saw a RE a few months later because I wanted to ttc. He put me on metformin, but the bacne came back (though not as bad as it was before) and I ovulated. My cycles were too long however, so he added clomid so I could get pregnant more easily and quickly.
I got pregnant on metformin and 100mg of clomid but miscarried this past summer somewhere around 6 1/2 weeks and had the d and c at 8 1/2 weeks. I just finished my first ttc cycle since then and just ended my first full period since the d and c. But I've been noticing for the past 2 months that my bacne is virtually non-existent and physically, I feel like my body is more in sync. It's hard to explain what I mean by "in sync", but I physically feel different and almost "normal" lately. I'm wondering if the short pregnancy/miscarriage kick started some sort of hormonal balance for me.
I haven't changed anything I've been doing...same diet, same dosage of metformin....everything is the same, but the acne is gone and I feel like a new person lately. Have you ever heard of this happening to someone? Could my annoying physical symptoms of pcos have gone away?!
