Default Normal test results -- now what?

I'm at a loss.

I mentioned in other threads that my hair is falling out in handfuls. I mean, literally. I'm starting to see my scalp and am now looking into scarves, wigs, etc., for work.

My family doc and obgyn both ran tests -- various hormones, cortisol, DHEA, DHEA-S, thyroid, thyroid antibodies, insulin, fasting glucose (?). Everything is normal. Not just normal, but stunningly normal. I'm dead center of the normal range on *everything*.

Everyone is always convinced that I must be a diabetic because of the way I gain weight, but my insulin levels were fantastic (range 0-23, they prefer it to be under 12 -- mine was 5.5). My body goes through starvation mode because of my Crohn's, but right now my Crohn's isn't acting up. It's not a surprise that I'm gaining weight -- I just don't get why my hair is falling out.

It doesn't seem to have alopecia areata patterns and it's not falling out in other areas. It's only scalp hair loss. What do I do?

Has anyone had completely normal test results (not even high normal) and still had this situation? I have an appt. with an endo next week, but I'll be wearing a scarf by then.

ARGH

Thanks,
Stephanie

IMHO,in addition to the links above, tests can be very inaccurate. My ND sent me out for blood tests,a nd for the most part everything is normal. She still wants me to do a full endocrin test as well though, which is alot more then pee and blood.

Anyways, I get my fasting glucose tested every year, sometimes twice. This year was one I was tested 3 times (for various reasons). I've gotten 91, 96, 109. All different. Depending on what time in your cycle you are, you might get different results too.
