I'm originally from the north east of england...just moved to america but i'm still in newcastle a lot....would like to get to know more women with pcos! havnt actually met anyone with it yet! this site has made me think!
I had to have my ultrasound in chester-le-street! It was the old hospital that I think has closed down now, it was half-empty and I had the ultrasound done in the back of a dark portakabin by a guy who didn't speak to me throughout...a little scary!
Still, it's nice to know there's other people in the same situation just nearby!
Hello - Thats where I went for mine!! And yes a dark horrible room - but with 2 women mine was with........ by that time I had already diagnosed myself really. i know i am pleased we are intouch as i thought I was the only one round here. Are you taking any meds?? it all confuses me!!
But the old hosipital has been knocked down now - there has been a new one built!
Yeah, the new building did look nice, shame I didn't get to go there!
OK, I am actually a postgraduate student at Durham uni (I'm originally from York), I'm 22 and I got diagnosed with PCOS last year.
I'm not on any meds apart from dianette as I'm definitely not trying to get pregnant! And I don't need to lose weight. But it is a little depressing as I have hair every place you can imagine and more. I am concerned that my symptoms will just gradually get worse until I'll find myself in a bad way and unable to conceive in 10 years time or so. But my doctor is not terribly interested...I haven't been referred to a specialist, I asked my dr to test me for insulin resistance but as my weight is in the normal range she won't.
I have good resolutions to eat healthy and give up chocolate - LOL, I never stick to them, but I keep thinking about it!
well I am not trying to get pregnant either but it is at the back of my mind that I cant - did it take you long Helz??
As for hair - there is a place in newcastle at the freeman called Laseraze - get it on the NHS - my doctor wrote a letter to them and they said yes no problem - no need to pay.
I am trying to loose some weight as it keeps going up and down all of the time. my doctor is quite good I asked for the insulin tests and they came back OK. i went to Dryburn hospital to see a specialist and she was useless - she said the only treatment is the pill - which it isnt as far as I know from reading up!!!!
you can go for a consultation anyway - the number is 0191 2130666 - worth giving them a call, there is another place in Darlington also but I am not sure where it is!!
