I see Dr. Jerold Share in Northwest DC, Wesley Heights neighborhood. He's a good listener and is never condescending or judgmental. I see him for PCOS and another friend of mine sees him for thyroid problems and we've both had good experiences. He's been treating me for several years. He accepts patients who aren't trying to conceive, which is great because most doctors are focused on reproductive endocrinology. He doesn't push weight loss or the birth control pill as cure-alls like many doctors do. There are a few problems with him, though. First, even if he specifically tells you to follow up, he is extremely hard to get a hold of and even if you do get a hold of him, he often says he'll need to call you back then never does. Second, he doesn't accept insurance (although this is a good thing for the uninsured) so you'll need to pay up front, and it's over $150 for an office visit. It might be reimbursable, depending on your insurance.
