Question NOT on any medication

I have been reading alot of the post and i have noticed that alot of you guys are on meds. Iam 29 years old and have never been on any medication but bc when i was in highschool. Is this normal, should i say something to my doctor.
Because i have symptoms coming out the arse and my doctor knows, but she said there is nothing they can do unless i want to have a baby. But for some reason i dont think thats right. I mean i havent had a period in 5 years since i came off bc. And i feel that maybe this wouldnt be so bad if i was on something...i mean why are they waiting till i want a baby...wouldnt being on meds help me in the long run for when im ready?

Not necessarily.

You should discuss your symptoms and goals with your doctor and work together to create a plan of treatment.

At the top of several forums (ie Metformin, Hair, Diet & Exercise) there are stickies with links to various treatment options and commentary.

I am not on meds either. I was put on meds to have my baby. I was not taking anything before I had him and I was not prescribed anything after I had him. I feel like i should be on something, I just don't know what. I can't go to the Dr right now because I still owe them money from giving birth. Once I get that paid for I am planning on going in for a complete work up and to try and get this pcos under control.

I was just diagnosed with PCOS and was basically told to walk it off (which infuriates me to no end) and that my period should return once I lose a specific amount of weight, but if it doesn't I'll have to go on meds. What kind of meds I'm not sure, but I wish I had something now.

I haven't had a period since November 2008 and with each passing month I feel less and less like a woman. I guess that's just the psychological part of the diagnosis, but I get tired of women telling me, "Oh I wish I didn't get my period every month." I just want to tell them, "NO YOU DON'T!"

Oh I don't have any children myself and I'm not looking to conceive any time soon, but like you I don't think it's right for doctors to not treat your symptoms unless you're trying to have a baby.

I guess the key is to find a good doctor.
