hi, and welcome.
one of the problems with pcos is that while there are some normal symptoms, women don't always have all of them. i don't have much excess hair (like two or three, really), i'm not very overweight (i could stand to lose about 10 lbs, but i'm not really worried about it), so far as i know, i don't have the 'string of pearls' ovaries. i do have technical amenorreah (one or two afs a year, and i don't ovulate), and my bloodwork showed elevated testosterone.
however, if you don't have any syptoms, aside from irregularity, it is worth looking at other possible causes (this is worth doing anyway, i think). don't give up on the idea of pcos, but don't limit yourself to it.
as well as having pcos, i have hypothyroidism. from what you have written, i would recommend you get your thyroid function checked out. a good friend of mine was diagnosed with hyperthoyroidism. this is also known as graves disease. symptoms of this can include being underweight, slightly bulging eyes (you didn't mention this, but i do know of this as a symptom, so i'm listing it), having irregular or missed periods, um... there's a great book called 'the thyroid sourcebook' that can give you more info than this.
the swelling on the side of your throat could have been a swollen gland. if it was your thyroid, it would have been closer to the center of your throat. if it has gone away, it's probably okay, but if not, get it checked out by a throat doctor (or a general doctor), not a gyno.
i hope you get everything sorted out soon. i hope you don't have pcos (i always hope that i don't have pcos, but that isn't likely to change anytime soon), but if you do, you are very welcome here, as you are very welcome here until you find out what is going on.
