I was prescribed the met earlier this week. They told me to take 1 pill 3x a day for a week. Then bump that up to 2 pills 3x day for that week. Finally 3 pills 3x a day for the rest of the time. Now my question! They only put 90 pills in the pill container. How am I suppose to have enough? I'm soooooooo confused. Not only am I confused...I'm sick...TMI--Diahreaa and vomiting...I've been reading all the posts here; so I'm not so concerned with the side effects now. What do I do about the pill amounts given to me?

Recheck the instructions on the bottle. I take 1/2 pill for the moring and 2 halves for the night. Is that what the doc meant? That would give you a dose of 1500 per day (if your pills are 1000 per pill).
Each pill is 500 mg. I've been taking 1 3x's a day. That's what the bottle says...but the RE's assistant told me to take that dosage for one week. Then keep uping the dose.

Yeah, that makes 1500/day and that's what a lot of cysters are on. I would call your RE and tell them to call a refil into your pharmacy. That's what I do when I run out. You can get the pills in 1000mg and that would give you more pills probably for the exact same price (if it's on your insurance that way). I get my pills for $10 copay no matter the mg per pill, so cutting a 1000mg in half saves me a lot of money in the long run.
I hope your side effects get better soon! Mine did, except for the loss of appetite, which I still have most days.

Yes that is WAY too much to start out on! I started on 500 one time a day then twice a day etc like the pp said. I have never heard of anyone on 3000mg! Definately call!

Just increasing from 500 to 1000 has had me sick for the past 2 weeks. I can't believe what you must be feeling starting off with 1500! I hope you work this out soon, for your poor tummy's sake.

I called the MA today...they gave me her cell phone b/c the other office does not pick up their phone. I got her vm and left her a detailed message about everything going on. GUESS WHAT?! She hasn't called back! I've decided to just take 1 pill a day then it increase as I feel better. I had to leave work early today because of this! I'm too tired, vomiting, diarheaa TMI, and ahhhhhhhh...just sick... I can't be leaving early b/c she gave me the wrong instructions. I'm going to be sure to call her tomorrow...maybe she'll be at the good office.

I think until you talk to them, that is wise. Dosing up slowly is the best way to get your system used to the drugs anyway and 3000 mg is an insane dose..far higher than the max dose. You have to get that clarifed.

I don't doubt that you've been really sick. I had problems each time I upped my dosage and that was once a week! I hope you get ahold of someone soon, but I think you'll do a lot better adjusting slowly. I always upped my dosages too when I had a couple of days off. That way, I had some time to adjust before I had to deal with work.
Not enough Met Pills! :(
