Lately, I've always been down and out, but now more than ever. I guess between the TTC part and my weight, pre-diabetic, hair on my face since I'm 13 years old, I feel like someone could have diagnosed me a long time ago, but no body would listen, they'd always tell me everything was okay and it was normal for me to be late with my cycle, even when I insisted that my sister and my mother had PCOS that still wasn't enough for them, only until now did a GYNO listen to me and know that something was wrong Okay, I'm done venting
So many of us cysters have suffered because of not being diagnosed or mis-diagnosed. The important thing now, is to try and take care of ourselves and to support one another. Hugs.
You're so right! If it wasn't for this site, I don't know what I'd do! You guys have helped me out so much and have made me understand so much about PCOS!
I was the same as you. Hair of my face since 12 acne since maybe 8 Doctors can be extremly stupid sometimes they went through all that schooling but insit that they are right and that is that

It's sad but true, so many cysters go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for so long that they miss out on the time they could have been receiving treatment. You have every right to vent! I really hope you feel better soon! (((HUGS))) to you!

I think some doctors really need to go back to school an or understand what patients are trying to tell them. We know our body better than anyone. Mine went through so many changes since high school, I put on 118 lbs in the last 10 years...that's horrible, hopefully I can get down and live my life better than I've been doing now that I know what's going on.
dr's can be soooooo stupid! it's hard to find a good one!

THe biggest problem with doctors is that they don't want to take the chance of being wrong so they don't tell you anything and just send you off saying your fine you'll grow out of it ect. If a doctor really cares and respects your opinion he'll test you. It doesn't take that long to fill out a lab form for blood work ect.

You're right...how long does it take to fill out blood work..I think all women should be tested for this. It's so sad that I had to go to about 4 GYNO's to and push for them to give me this test...even after I told them that my mother and sister had PCOS and that I've got the signs of it...they didn't wanna believe me. Well, here I am with PCOS and it's gotten much worse over the years and now I'm predibetic and I'm about 100 lbs more than before and my face is full of pimples. Only if a doctor would have listened to me in the beginning.
Yeah you are all so right! Dr's lack listening skills plus they re mostly governed by HMO's so they don't want to rack up what they deem as unnecessary tests. So they wuld rather send women home thinking they are all so dang Crazy that in my case I have gone Therapy, tried forgiveness, diet after diet(making my metabolizm worst)Driving my cortisol up & increasing my oppurtunity for anxiety attacks. Did you know you can not sue an HMO dr? They are protected all around! All that education and they know nothing about something that affects 10% of the female population. Really feels like if we were men & had problems with our prostate they would have not only ordered some tests but have come up with a drup to help them. Sorry I am married I love my husband but I still feel like a minority in this world. To top it al off Fat women make less money that thin women & men of any size make more than any women in the same position with same experience. So at te top I am pretty sure it's a man keeping the PCOS women down. Sorry for the male bashing. And as for female dr.s out there that don't test for this double shame on you!

I underdand how frustrated you all are. I was dx PCOS at 16 after anovulation for 6 mos. A gyno I was referred to at the time did the tests, and sent me on to a ped RE who told me what was going on with my crazy body. They both told me there was nothing else that could be done, put me on BC and told me I probably wouldn't have kids ever. Talk about devistated and depressed for a good long while. So I pretty much stayed this way for years til my husband urged me to do something and talk to my doctor about mood swings when I became over hungry. so about a year ago I began the quest for more answers, and better underdtanding of this PCOS condition I had been labled with at such young age. Found a new gyno after my general practitioner and old gyno told me nothing was wrong with my blood sugar. The new gyno did the same tests and said that I did indeed have IR and that I was close to the border line of diebetic. He started me on Met and I have been feeling better since. You really have to be your own advocate with this! And you really have to search to find a good doctor, thats very sad to me!
And as for female dr.s out there that don't test for this double shame on you!
I went to three woment GYNO's the didn't wanna take the time to find out that this is what I had. I don't understand why they would tell women they'll never have kids when we have PCOS
