Default NOT happy with my OB!!!

Hey girls-

SO I just wanted to put this post out there because im so mad I need to vent. So heres my recent OB story.

My Ob was great through out everything, including my loss. When I went to her with the idea that I might have PCOS she seemed to know the "basics" but I thought she would at least know something usefull!! Anyways, I had another post up here about hard time swallowing the pills and someone wrote back and stated that there is a liquid form of Met and that she was taking it. So I called my Ob and she has the NURSE call me back to tell me "We dont know where you heard that, but its not true no such thing!!" So of course i get mad, because I knew there was. So I calmed down a bit, came back on here looked up the old forum and found the NAME of the medicine, and googled it, and SURE enough its the liquid form of MET! I was so mad, I called back this past tuesday and NOT heard anything back from them. It REALLY makes me made that she couldnt even check, that she was TOO busy to even bother, because if I could find it in that little amount of time then she could!!! But now they are not returning my calls and thats really making it worse! I have completely STOPPED taking Met now because its to hard for me to swallow, I love alone and I have choked on them, I get sick everytime i crush them, and I have awful tastes in my mouth. I got so frustrated. I need to get back on it. So im hoping to do some research and find a doctor that knows more about PCOS and can help me through this....my Ob should stick to "catching the head"!!!! Babies are her thing obviously...maybe if I called and said im in labor they would help LOL. Anyways I just needed to vent. I might even find that I have to drive all the way out to Boston which is almost 4 hours away to find someone who knows SOMETHING more than the basics about PCOS. I dont treat this as a game, and to me its not. Its very serious thing and Im sure you all agree. I want someone who knows SOMETHING!!!
Hope everyones having a great weekend!!

What dose of met are you on? The reason I ask is that when I was on 2000 mg, I would take 2 1000mg daily and they were pretty big pills. I don't have problems swallowing big pills, I often take many pills at once lol!, but when I was increased to 2500 mg, and I got 500mg pills and they are much smaller. They might be easier to swallow.
As far as the Dr. not knowing about the meds, that actually is quite common. I often go to them with meds that I have either read about or people I know are taking and ask them about it. Most Drs. issue meds that have been around for a long time and ones that have been given to them by pharm reps. I asked my np about the liquid met she didn't know anything about iether, but was quite interested as she is a diabetic too.

Bless your heart...Maybe the nurse will return your phone call tomorrow. Maybe the doc needed to check and research and educate herself this weekend. I hope you get the answers you deserve. Have a great week!

you poor thing. I'm so sorry this is happening. Our doctors are who we go to to understand things and when they don't cooperate then, we get all lost and confused. I hope you find someone closer and someone who knows more. Sorry again!!! Keep your head up!! some advice on the pills my grandma can't take pills and the way we give them to her is to coat them in butter. You may want to try that. also if you take them with a carbonated beverage eventhough you aren't supposed to it starts to dissolve in your mouth a little it will feel weird and fuzzy but it helps me when I can't get a pill down. Anyways have a good week!!!

Hey girls-

Just wanted to write back and say thanks so much for the support. Its monday and nothing from the doc. Just tried to call her back. The reason i got so upset about this woman not knowing anything wasnt because the doc didnt know about the liquid met just because of the way the nurse and doc both came back to me with the information. Almost like I was stupid and didnt know what I was talking about. THAT bothered me more, ya know, us women we KNOW when somethings wrong, and we take matters into our own hands. We are usually right about things and theres NO reason they couldnt havent checked into it and called me back. I actually did some research and found 3 doctors within an hour of me that are HIGHLY recommended one having PCOS herself. Which would be great! Anyways thanks so much again and hopefully Ill get somewhere this week. Im still off Met, and my acne is coming back bad. It helped but NO period in to long! That makes me VERY nervous!!

Hey

yeah I called today the nurse called back. Very rude she was. She said to me that she already called me back and my Ob looked on her BRAND new palm pilot for information and found NOTHING, so i was like oh yeah well i got the name of the medicine and i have done my research please speak with her and call me back. Needless to say I searched for a new doc from other girls who have PCOS and have delt with docs in my area, AND called and made an appointment to see someone NEW!!! Someone who has a little bit more insight because something tells me my doc NEVER looked she would have found it as easily as I googled it!!! Thanks again girls~!

Default crushing pills

Unless you're on regular met (opposed to time-release met, usually ends in ER or XR) you shouldn't crush the pills anyway. But if you're on regular old met, you might try crushing them and putting them in empty pill capsules. You can buy them at most nutrition or herb stores. This is how I got my Promethazine down when the sheer taste of it had me lunging to the toilet. You can't taste the empty capsules, and the shape goes down pretty well. Might be a quick fix until you get a better doc.
