I'm brand new to these boards ... this may be a silly question but ...
I have not had AF since Jan/07. I had an HSG test done July 31 (came back all normal!) and on my follow up
visit to my Dr he said I have mild PCOS and perscribed Metformin to help regulate me??
It's been 12 days on it and it hasnt done much other then now my AF is still here and it's off and on spotting. I called my dr's office and he wants to see me early (I'm not up to the full dose yet, only at 1000mg until tomorrow)
In October we are going to talk about adding Clomid
My question is .. how do you PCOS ladies know when you're Oing????
Ive had AF for so long I have no idea what's going on and when!!!
I think most tell by taking temperature but I am also completely confused on the subject... so someone with some knowledge post!

Welcome to SC! First off, no question in a silly question!! I'm in the same boat. I just started bbt, cm, cervical position charting this month to figure out if I o. Ds was a bit of an accident while I was on bcp, I have no clue if I normally ovulate. From what other cysters have told me you basically have three options. 1. Chart 2. OPK (Word of caution, they do not work for all people who have pcos) 3. Your doctor can do a test (can't think of the name off the top of my head sorry) at a certain point in your cycle to see if you o. I know hearing my options what frustrating to me, I wanted to know and wanted to know now...not in a few weeks. I'm in the mist of my first cycle charting and signs have been showing that I will o, but it has not been confirmed yet. I'm hoping fertility friend will confirm my suspicions that I o'd in the last 24-72 hours within the next few days. If you are going to chart and haven't already I recommend checking out http://www.fertilityfriend.com/. Along with getting the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. TCOYF will also help explain how your body works and what happens when and why it happens. It is an amazing resource imo. Both of those resources have become my charting bible.

I'm pretty new to all of this too and was also wondering how you know when you O. I will check out the website you mentioned Sanyia, thanks for the info!

I bought the book and then looked at the website for www.tcoyf.com
It explains charting very well.

Highly recommend TCOYF. Charting your temp will tell you a lot but not everything. You may have a typical low pre-O and high post-O chart or you might have an annovulatory low high low high low high or even some other pattern. Start charting and keep the records to show your doctor and chart the other recommended body signs as well. Good luck!

I chart. I've been charting with FertilityFriend for 29 cycles (soon to be 4 yrs) and I'm not even ttc! Before I used BabyMed for 1,5 years. My lucky (?) thing is that I usually always ovulate sooner (around cd 18-26) or later (around cd 40-60). So I somehow can predict when af arrives and that's why I keep temping every morning.
canadiangirlttc, maybe you should just start charting now. First "cycle" chart won't probably look correct or give you much of information but it sure will give you some experience and get you ready for the next cycle. And if it happens that you ovulate and then get spotting or light bleeding it helps you to define when you start your next cycle. Good luck with charting and if you have any questions feel free to ask either from me or from ttc-board as there is a sticky for all charting related questions.

Your charting should still be fairly accurate, though it takes a couple months to be certain. So your first month of charting may be off, but by the third month you'll get to see a pattern and that will help you analyze your own chart as well as the software's interpretation being more spot on.
CD8 is earlier than most, but women ovulate at all different times in their cycle, it's unique for everyone.
I hope that you have in fact Oed & that you catch the egg!
