Red face Not officially diagnosed, desperately seeking a DR!

Hey Everyone

I have not been officially diagnosed with PCOS, but have no doubt that its what I have. I am 23 years old and have been dealing with the symptoms of PCOS for years...irregular cycle, excessive body hair (ugh!), weight gain (especially on my belly), mood swings, acne (not really on face, mostly on back) and just recently my hair started thinning which really was the last straw for me!

I've been trying to find a specialist to go to, but I'm a college student with no health insurance...thinking of trying herbal treatments without a diagnoses...any recommendations?

Many colleges have a health center on campus that does not charge or they contract with a local health provider that might charge on a sliding scale. We have a community health care office up here that works on a sliding scale and treats mostly everything there in their offices. Might be something to check out.

I moved to San Antonio about a year and a half ago. I just found a doc in the Stone Oak area but he is a reproductive endocrinologist specializing in infertility. I found him by looking for an endocrinologis specializing in PCOS on the web but I am sure they are expensive.

But maybe if you called them and asked them for a recommendation or clinic? It is the Perinatal & Fertility Specialists of San Antonio (210) 481-3000. They just asked me today if I had a family doctor and a gyno, I don't so they said they would recommend one when my tests come back. Maybe they will be able to recommend someone for you, never hurts to ask.
