Red face Not PCOS related - Need help with Ringworm!

Mods please move this if this isn't the proper place to put this... As this isn't PCOS related. Thanks.

When I was a kid I used to get a rash type ring on my upper inner thigh. I never knew what it was, but it itched. It got bigger and bigger around too and the skin in the middle would look scaley, but not nearly as red as the ring.

Flash forward, years later... I have it again, but this time its on the underside of my breasts. This is so embarrassing for me to say, but I need some help here! It looks exactly like this:

This is not my "rash" but a picture from the Net. Its not gross, but its not pretty by any means.

I don't know what to do. I don't know how I got it (I do have pets, but I haven't seen any rash like this on any of them). The only thing I can think is we have these biting black flies around and I wonder if they've been giving it to me. They're all in the house and I don't know how to get rid of them. I have killed so many today its too many to count. But they haven't bitten me on the underside of my boobs!!!

I don't know what to do, so I was hoping someone else had experience with this. I don't have the money to go to a doctor (no insurance and unemployed). So is there any anti-fungal (everything I've read said its a fungus) over-the-counter meds?

Thanks so much in advance.

It can be passed SO easily Amber that you could have picked it up from anywhere (your pets are certainly a possibility). Go to the pharmacy and get an antifungal cream that treats jock itch and athletes foot. It has the medication in it to clear up ringworm also. Warning - it does take awhile to go away.

Good luck with it!

hey amber, yeah, this definitely isn't worth freaking out about. i have gotten ringworm a lot, and t is super easy to treat. lamisil spray is the best. also, just to be safe, wash your clothing and bedding, to prevent yourself from spreading it further on your body.

you'll know that it is going away when it starts to get dry and flake off...yeah, gross

Blue Star Ointment works really well or even a yeast infection cream. I used to get it all the time when I was a preschool teacher. Also it is a type of yeast infection.

My sister had a horrible time with it for a while - got patches of it on her back and then, bless her heart, her crotch. Now she's pure as the driven snow, so no clue as to how that happened - the dr. said it was probably picked up from one of the cats, who apparently can carry ringworm without actually getting it. But I digress. . . the dr. suggested that she apply Selsun Blue (the dandruff shampoo) and leave it on the rash for 10 - 15 minutes and then rinse it off. She did this 3 times a day until it was gone. I had it once on my leg and used one of those anti-fungal creams from Wal-Mart. Good luck.

Amber - Tea Tree Oil. Works quickly! I will occasionally get it from my cats. If they sleep on your chest at night or if you pick them up, under your boob is as likely a place as any. Seriously though, Tea tree oil. It usually works in a day or two. I also put a few drops in the wash with my pj's and sheets.

But I already bought the "touch actin' Tinactin". haha Couldn't resist. If this doesn't work I'll take you up on it. Where do you buy your tea tree oil? Got a brand?

Give your "tough actin" stuff a try. If it doesn't do it for you, PM me and I will give you more info.
