I have read the stories about the early births and the little angels that come into this world sleeping but I had never experienced it for myself until now. My beautiful angel nephew was born on 2-12-09 at 1:37am, he was only 21 wks and 3 days gestation age. He weighed 12 ounces and was 10 1/2 inches long and he was so beautiful. I was there for his birth, it was such a rough delivery for my sister in law even though he was so tiny. No one knows what happend, my sister in law started leaking fluids about a week ago, she was hospitalized because of it for 2 or 3 days but after everything slowed down and the baby seemed to be thriving and moving well and had a good heart beat, she was released on full bed rest and told not to do anything and to drink lots and lots of water.
Things went well for a couple of days, things had really slowed down and she was feeling the baby move as she had been for a couple of weeks.
On 2-11, she started to get a head ache and said that her muscles were achy, then she tried to get up and her legs felt like jello, within a matter of minutes she developed a fever of almost 105 and became totally lethargic. She was rushed to the hospital via ambulance and when she got to the e.r. they started iv fluids and antibiotics almost immediatley. They did an ultrasound and found that the baby no longer had a heart beat.
Once her fever went down, hrs later she was induced and several hrs after that gave birth to a beautiful little sleeping angel. We all got to hold him after he was cleaned up, weighed, measured and after they had done a couple of things to put together a bereavment box. We all got to say our final goodbye's, it was so sad and heart breaking and one of the (if not The hardest thing) that we have all had to face at this point in our lives.
He was is and will be loved and missed by us all as long as we are all still in this earth.
Though he was only with us for a short time Santos Isidro M. (named after our maternal and paternal grandfathers) has left his tiny perfect foot prints inbeded forever in our hearts.
I cant imagine what my brother and sister in law are going through, but I can say that they are def not alone. The outpour of love and support from family has been amazing and has def helped.
An autopsy will be performed and we are having a service after cremation takes place in memory of this little sleeping angel.
I hope and pray that my brother and his wife get the much needed answers to their many questions, I know that it will help bring closure.
Thank you all for listening and reading my beautiful angel nephew's story.

Thank you so much for sharing, and thank you for staying close with your brother and his wife. Knowing how much people cared about us was one of the only reasons I am still alive myself. If your SIL doesn't hear about preventative cervical cerclage next time she is pregnant, please tell her that is probably what she needs to investigate. (((Hugs)))

I forgot to say how sorry I am about your family's loss. And I know how it brings back all of the emotions from your own losses. You all have been through too much!
