Hi,

I'm new to this board.I was reading some of the posts and think
I may have PCOS.I have alot of the syptoms.Like wheight gain,
Hair loss,Hair where I don't want it and mood swings.I'm depressed and cry alot.My family thinks I'm crazy.I think I need help.So what I wanted to ask is how do doctors find out if you have PCOS.Is it a blood test or vaginal exam?Are there alot of tests involed?Please Help?????

welcome to Soul cysters! There are blood test that can be ran to check your hormone levels and there is a vaginal ultra sound to check your ovaries for cyst but there are some women that have PCOS and do not have cyst on their ovaries. If you go to the newbie section there is a lot of information and questions to ask your doctor. I hope this helps. Good luck!!

i'd ask them do test your hormones. most pco'ers have abnormally high hormones of one sort or another, either testosterone or progesterone. plus you'd want to get your thyroid checked and maybe pituitary gland. i'd just talk to the doc. they probably have an order in which they'd check things, based on your symptoms.
