Default not sure i belong here??? confused

long story short, i found out i have PCOS. The doc said that my internal ultrasound showed that I have PCOS. What confuses me is that I only have a couple of symptoms.

-I have the cysts on my ovarys...
-my cycles are fairly regular... usually 26-28 days rarely a 24 or 32. I always thought this was regular.
-heavy bleading some cycles with A LOT of pain - pain/symptoms associated with going into shock.
-Infertility

Things I don't have, to name a few
I have LOW blood pressure
no extra hair
not over weight
lets put it this way, when i was reading the list of symptoms, i though this can't be me!

They started me on metformin, 500mg per day.

Does this seem right? I'm so confused with all of this new information that I've gotten. We just want a baby, is that too much to ask for Thanks for listening.

The metformin could help you get pg. It just depends on your body and if it works better with the metformin. The symptoms you read about and quoted are NOT ALL in EVERY PCOS woman. Some people only have a few.

I hope the metformin works for you.

As was said above, welcome and not everyone has all the symptoms of PCOS so dont think you have to have all the symptoms.

take care!! x

The only symptoms I have are cysts on my ovaries and my testosterone level is high (and infertile at the moment). So, you can have it--just feel lucky that you don't have many of the symptoms!

PCOS absolutely, positively cannot be diagnosed from only an ultrasound.

Are you ovulating? If you are not ovulating, it doesn't really matter that you have 'regular' periods. The the 'symptom' which could indicate PCOS is the fact that you're not ovulating.

I would call your doctor and ask for specific on how he/she arrived at the diagnosis of PCOS. They should be able to detail this for you, and it should also include a report from addtional bloodwork.

If it's only from the ultrasound...get a new doctor who understands the diagnostic procedure better.

Hi, I'm Lindsay. Not everyone has the same symptoms of PCOS.... I'm only on metformin 500mg per day also. I'm in the 2ww period, so I guess I'll see if that low of a dose works! good luck! and wlecome!

Sorry about all the confusion. I unfortunatly, seem to be the poster girl for PCOS. Cysts, anovulatory, overweight, hair on my chinny chin chin, high testosterone levels, lopsided LH/FSH. But the others are right, not everyone has every symptom. I had a wonderful book on PCOS I bought years ago. I'll have to find it and let you know the name.
