I was just diagnosed with PCOS TODAY, although the doctor I told me she thought I had it about two months ago, and did tests to see if thats what everything pointed to. Turns out everything does point to PCOS, and she immediately referred me to a gyno. I'm not sure if I shoudl worry that she did that...I would think that she could help me just as well as her? Also, when I asked her about my testosterone levels and how high they were she just said "Well, they are definitely higher than most of the people I have seen." That doesnt make me feel good either. My free testosterone was at 15.2....and I know thats not good.
My biggest fear is the thought of diabetes, since I am overweight, although not extremely. That, and cancer in the unterus. I have had irregular periods since I was 11....and by irregular I mena I get them about once a year.
You have to understand that I am always getting sick (pretty much once a month) as it is, and I mean SICK, not just a cold. and now this has been thrown at me as well. I feel like my body is just going to give up before I even get to my twenties.... : /
getting the diagnosis of PCOS is a shock, upsetting, and horrible. No one wants to hear that they have a diagnosis that could lead to cancer or heart disease, or diabetes, and infertility. I wanted to second guess the diagnosis, and immedietly just gave myself all the horrible diseases that come with it. I like youhaven't had regular periods since I was 13. But you should be thankful that the doctors found something, and that there is medicine for you. The medicine will help you lose weight and help your hormone levels level out. I know how upsetting this diagnosis can be...trust me i know. But I also know that I have hope and that today is a good day, and I can live one day at a time and make is a good day. It helps to have people who understand, and everyone hear completely understands. I wish you luck in your journey with PCOS and that you feel better. (((((HUGS)))))))

Hi, I'm 19 and was just diagnosed with PCOS as well. I have had irregular periods since i was 12 not getting them at all either. My family doctor struggled a lot with my issues, it is a good thing that your doctor is referring you to a gyno, they know much more about it then regular doctors. I have had to switch two three different gynos before i found the right one. I was getting sick two weeks out of the month as well, and very physically sick. Once you find the right Doctor they can help you with a plan of how to get medicine that will make you feel better, and a steady diet that will make you better too!
You have to keep your head up! Best of Luck! and don't give up!

This makes me feel much better! I have been getting sick for so long, and it has affected me work and school and it is starting to get more frequent, Hopefully my gyno will be able to help me in a way that yours did!
