Hi, I'm new and very hesitant to post on here, but I've been reading the posts for weeks now and can't find anything that I'm really looking for so I thought I'd give it a try. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS this past year after years of telling my doctor that something was severly wrong.
I'm not overweight and don't have typical symptoms of PCOS, but I don't have a regular period. Maybe 10 my whole life, and when I do they are AWFUL!!!. I'm 22. However, I do still get bad acne.
(All my friends keep talking about starting wrinkle creams and I'm still searching for something to clear my face up. My most recent endeavor is ProActive. So far I'm seeing a slight improvement... I think. )
My doc started me on Yasmin to prevent cysts (though she did not check for any thus far) and Spironolactone. The combination of the two gave me acne as if I were 12 years old!
I hate taking the pills and I have stopped taking the Spironolactone for fear that it would break my face out even worse. Has anyone else experienced problems with these medicines?
I'm very worried about PCOS. Currently I do not have Insulin Resistance, or problems with my weight, but was diagnosed with IBS when I was 15. I do not take anything for it I just try to be healthier and keep stress and depression down.
Are there others out there like me? I'm just looking for someone who has the same symptoms of me, I know I don't have it as bad as I could and I'm thankful, but I'm still scared and not sure what's to come.
You know, PCOS presents itself in different ways. There is a whole section of the board just for thin cysters. You are definately not alone. I have no pearls of wisdom for you b/c I have not taken either of the meds you mentioned but have seen things about them all over the board so I'm sure you will find some assistance.
Anyway, I'm so glad you have joined Soul Cysters. You will find this place to be invaluable to you. No matter what it is you need you can find it here.... support, answers, or even some fun people to talk to. My only wish is that I had found this place so much sooner. I think I could have saved myself a lot of poor treatment choices and I would have had much needed support during many years of infertility and loss. I would repost your question in a different forum to get more responses, though. Hi, have you gone back to your doctor about the change in your skin since starting the medication. If the combination of Yasmin and Spironolactone doesn't agree with you, then there may be other ways of treating yoour symptoms without such side effects. Sorry I can't offer any better advice than this.
