Mandi~ I am so glad you checked in with us. I think you are making a very good decision. I have fought depression as long as I can remember and it is not an easy fight to face. I admire your courage. By doing this and learning how to make yourself happier, you are not letting them "win". I don't know you well, but have had you on my mind all day. I felt so helpless, b/c I have been there too and I have an idea what it is like. The difference is that I had family and friends to rely on. Please take care and check in when you are able.

I am so glad you are getting help. I too have suffered from depression for as long as I can remember. Checking into the hospital is such a big step in the right direction. Please, when you can, keep us updated on your progress. We will be thinking about you and sending you positive thoughts and prayers!

Glad you decided to get some help! Life really is worth living! 
It is so hard to overcome being victimized as a child and then to have the whacky mood swings and depression from pcos on top of it, but with the proper help you can get better, I am living proof of that.
When I was in my 30s life was so hard to face, I was financially broke, malnourished physically and emotionally, stuck in a marriage from hell, had a crazy abusive dad, had lost my Mom right after a miscarriage and felt disconnected from my family. I was constantly thinking of various ways to die, I tried to become an alcoholic to numb the pain like my mother had, but that didn't help the pain either.
Thankfully I got help from counseling and discovered how to live instead, how to be a survivor of abuse instead of a victim. I am truly happy now, I did not know this kind of happiness existed, thank God I didn't cheat myself from it.
The road to happiness can be a long and painful process but it is so worth the trip! I hope you find a great therapist to help guide you through the rough patches.  | |

I've walked away from this post a few times, but I'm getting mroe annyoed so I will say this...
If you don't have anything positive to say, don't say a freaking thing. If someone is brave enough to ASK FOR HELP, you should not talk 'realism' on how they feel...you, first off...DON'T KNOW THE OP, so what makes you think you know how she feels? Second, if someone was contemplating end their life, would you hand them the gun?? No-because that would be STUPID...so why would oyu possibly post something ignorant as saying that they wouldn't post that if they meant it?!? Havne't you ever heard 'a few kind words can change a persons life'?!? if not, think about it...

Everyone has a breaking point, and it definitely sounds like you've reached yours. I'm glad and hope that you are strong enough to over come it. The road to happiness can be a long and bumpy one, but it is out there for you to find. Good luck on your journey!

Slave to the corps--you were right to say that. I work for a police agency (not a cop) and I talk to people like this all the time. This is a cry for help, and yes it is serious, whoever said that does not understand. she will very likely do something if someone does not reach her. Pray for her, I am praying for her.
