Hi all!
I've been here every day since my first doctor visit mid-April. That was the first time I'd heard of PCOS, but I'm convinced I've had it a long time. I've read the posts about doctors having NO CLUE about how to treat it....Boy am I glad I read those "newly diagnosed" posts....it prepared me for my own Diagnosis Dance.
First off I'm dealing with an LPN, which is fine. She takes history ( I have lots of details), orders ultrasound and labs. 'Sound shows both ovaries enlarged, a 5 and 13. We all know that cysts are not the definitive symptom, I have lots of others to back up my case.
LPN and I pretty much agree to Metformin, diet, exercise, possible BCP down the road. We are on the same page. LPN has to run it past MD since the met is "misapplied", who vetoes, in favor of BCP for three months, then a lap to investigate.
LPN phones and I know she does not agree, but tells what to expect if I stay. I said HELLO to second opinion which she is in favor of and recommends a couple. So, three more weeks until that appt.
It just makes me mad. Why treat the symptom with expensive procedures if you can get at the cause??? Grrr.... I hate to rant about doctors and their vacation homes....so I won't.
Wow, so amazing. If you are in the info-gathering stage like I was, please take some time to read cysters' stories! Info is power. Get in tune with your own body and family history! Push up your sleeves and get ready, although I will be the first to rejoice if you have an easy go.
