Default NPC gave me two big cysts!

Ok well I used NPC for 14 days like I was supposed to and as soon as I stopped I started having pain in my right ovary, Then my bb's began to swell and hurt. I went to the doctor today and he did a sono and I have two golfball sized cysts on my right ovary.

Ive never grown cysts on my own before. (I mean, I have the litle tiny ones, but not biggies). I did have big cysts from after I O'd from injectables but that was from the meds.

Im afraid to use the NPC again now! My doc put me on a low dose bcp and told me to come back for a follwo up in one month. Also, I have to limit activity so they won't pop or twist (hopefully)

Kittycat,

I don't really know what to say. I mean, I don't know whether NPC had anything to do with the cysts, or if it was just an unfortunate coincidence.

It sounds like maybe you should follow the doc's advice, since it's just one month, and then see how you feel about NPC then. I probably wouldn't try it with the bcp's, since they are both hormone based treatments. I don't know how they'd interact.

I recently used NPC for 10 days to bring on AF. I meant to use it for 14, but then my cat decided it was a cat toy and I didn't find it for a few days. So far, no AF, but I also didn't develop any large cysts.

I hope the cysts don't cause you any real problems. Twisting and popping can both be pretty painful, so I'd advise sticking to pretty low exertion activities for a while. Hopefully, they'll go away soon.

Perhaps you want to look into using some herbal treatments as opposed to the NPC. I personally have not had a problem with cysts when using NPC but I didn't get the results I was looking for either, even when following the proper directions.
By the way, some herbalists (and a few older drs) feel that cysts are your body's way of encapsulating waste matter (toxins or excess hormones) when your liver is overburdened. A second liver of sorts. Because all sex hormones have to pass through the liver to be synthesized into usable hormones for our body, the NPC may have been too much for your liver to handle and that is why the cysts. You might want to look into using something for liver toning like dandelion root, burdock root, milk thistle, wild yam root, oregon grape root et al. I mentioned above using some herbal treatments which tend to work at a deeper level by nourishing the body so I personally feel it is easier on the body, and liver in particular.
Hope you feel better soon.

The cysts sizes were 4.5 cm and 3.2 cm. BTW I think theye getting bigger, not smaller and Ive been using bcp for 4 days now. I hope they go away!

Default may be a silly question... but....

were you using the cream before or after ovulation?? If before, you may have caused the folicles not to be able to release. NPC must be used during the right phase of your cycles. If after, I don't know why the cysts came.

This is my thought as well - that you stopped ovulation at the point of maturation of the eggs but didn't allow them to be released.

I don't ever ovulate or have cycles on my own even so I have no way of knowing where I was at in my "cycle" since I don't have one.

According to my doctor's theory Ive never o'd on my own (probably in my life). I think maybe the NPC jumpstarted my ovaries to ovulate but it went bad and the follies just kept growing and never were released. I don't know what to think now about the NPC. I definately don't want to go through this again! Maybe I will try using it once every other day. I had started out applying it twice a day every day and I think it was just too much all at once. Ive taken large amounts of progesterone before and never had any trouble so I don't know why I responded so badly to the NPC.

Large amounts of natural progesterone or Provera type?

Also, it might make a difference what brand of NPC you used, and whether it contained the right dosage.

I with there were easier answers for you! I don't blame you for not wanting to go through it again. I think there is a lot that is not known about each individual woman's response to treatments, nor a way to acccurately test it without literally taking bloodtests everyday to see what is happening, the rising and falling of all the necessary hormones.

I think it is that your FSH/LH also needs to be corrected but I'm not sure how to do that.

Your comment about "never" ovulating gave me a thought -- have you looked into something called Premature Ovarian Failure?

I never ovulate on my own. Ever. When Im given ovulation induction shots (FSH) I OVER- produce so I definately do not have premature ovarian failure. I don't ovulate because I have a very severe case of PCOS. Allso, my hormone levels don't indicate premature ovarian failure.
