This month, I started it on 19cd. I'm going to stop it on cd 28 or 29. Last month I started it on 22 through 32/33 and then spotted and finally got my AF on cd35. Last month I ovulated (or so said my chart) on cd29. I don't know if I really did, or if it was the NPC? This month, I dont' think I've ovulated or am not going to... my TCOYF software says I'm "supposed to" ovulated tomorrow, cd30. We'll see I guess.
I also do NOT have a temperature rise! When I take NPC, my temps really do not rise, and I go above the line in my chart for about 3 days. I started taking B6 to help (this month). I already take Vitex (taken for about 2 months now). What else can I take to help lengthen/rise my luteral phase????
If you take progesterone before ovulating, it usually will prevent ovulation. After 3 high temps over coverline, start NPC.
Also vitex may work against you. Alot of women don't see any benefit until 3 mos., and in the meantime it prevents O for about 50% of women. SO that is up to you whether you want to continue it or not.
Progesterone should only be used before ovulation for a shutdown. Shutdown basically shuts down your ovaries and gives them a break while you get rid of excess estrogen. And shutdowns shouldn't be done for more than 3 mos. in a row.
So you could stop progesterone now. If you don't get AF then start taking your temps immediately since you probably didn't ovulate last cycle. See if you ovulate. If you do, then start NPC again after 3 high temps.
Hope that helps!

Thank you for the quick reply. I did stop the NPC after looking at my last chart.
I'm wondering if the Vitex is delaying ovulation? So, when am I supposed to take Vitex??? Before I ovulate or after, or not at all?
I'm so confused.
It's recommended to take vitex all cycle long. That really has to be up to you - depending on whether time/patience is a factor, i.e. are you willing to hang in there 3 mos. to see if it works. But you could take vitex just in the first half of cycle - though it might still push ovulation farther ahead. If you don't want to wait it out, by all means, you could stop the vitex & see what happens with ovulation. Then start NPC after you ovulate again.
Best wishes!
