Unhappy NPC is not working this time around.

I'm so frustrated right now. I have been using Natural Progesterone Cream (NPC) for the past couple of months to induce cycles in hopes of regulating my periods. It worked twice, but now it is failing. I am not trying to conceive nor is there any chance whatsoever that my body's failure to have a period this month is due to pregnancy. This failure, once again, is simply my body not doing what it should do.

I used NPC in late June and early July to start a period after not having one since January 2009. It worked. I got my period. I then got another period 23 days later when I used NPC again. Two weeks after day one of that last cycle, I resumed my use of NPC and started to spot on 8/19/09. I really thought I was going to have another period and was pleased that NPC really seemed to be working so well for me. I shouldn't have gotten excited though. I am still waiting for my period, and the spotting I have been having is almost gone. *sighs* I just want to be normal and have periods and not have to induce them with NPC, but that seems impossible right now. Even my period in January had to be induced with NPC.

I have been using a 1/2 teaspoon of NPC twice a day on days 14 to 28 of my cycles. I usually start a period prior to using NPC for two weeks. Perhaps this is too much though. I am so frustrated right now that I feel like giving up and quitting my NPC use entirely because my body doesn't work anyway, but I might give it one last try in two weeks and use only a 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. Do you think this lesser amount might work better? I asked my gynecologist about NPC when I went for an exam the other week. She said she doesn't know much about NPC and that she could not offer me advice or recommendations about using it.

I'm debating whether to take a break from using NPC for a month or so after the spotting I'm having ends. I'm sick of having to focus so much on trying to have period when I should just get them naturally. I don't like having to use NPC to induce cycles. Maybe the stress is making my cycles stop in spite of my NPC use. I don't know what to do. If I stop using NPC, odds are that I won't have a period for many months, but sometimes, like now, I still don't have a proper period even with NPC use. I don't like feeling like I have no control when it comes to my body. I was relieved when NPC worked for me. I liked being able to have some idea of when my period would start. Now that my body is failing, I don't know when to expect it, and it is frustrating.

I'm sorry it is not working this time around, I suspect it is because your body hasn't made enough oestrogen to build up the womb lining and therefore there is nothing to shed. I found the book below very helpful in understanding females hormones.
