NPC, Vitex, and Dong Quai

I have several questions for you ladies.......after hearing about Torie's good news, I thought I'd give these a try......I have a few questions though.

I went to GNC and bought Femgest....with hopes I didn't buy the wrong kind!! Anyways, I also bough Dong Quai and Vitex 500mg per capsule.

I've been reading many NPC articles and am a bit confused about many thing...I don't get my AF and I don't think I ovulate either...I see many of you say to wait until after ovulation to start NPC...what if I don't get AF or ovulate?? Can I still use this??

I also saw where many of you take the progesterone cremes 14 days on and 14 days off.....the directions say 21 days on 7 days off. I did however see an article where many who have cysts use it for the 21 day amount in order to give ovaries a rest or to not try to conceive.....is that why I should follow the 14 days on and 14 days off method and not what the directions say??

Should I be monitored by the dr?? I thought that since this is natural I would be able to use this and when the dr. orders tests every 3 months, we would find out...and hence be monitored..however, are any of you being monitored closely with this??

On the Herbs I've mentioned (Dong Quai and Vitex)Do I take them while i'm on the NPC?? I was reading a few posts and was getting a bit confused......do I wait until I get AF to take them, or do I take them with NPC in order to get AF??

I have type 2 diabetes and instead of taking met (it didn't work during the 6 months I was using it) I'm taking insulin (Lantus 44 Units at night) Will any of these herbs be harmful to me while I take that??

Any help would be appreciated I would rather go the natural approach...I'm eating much better, exercising 5 days a week, and am getting reflexology (love the hour alone...calming as I am usually stressed out with our Foster Parenting job with teens).

Any help would be appreciated!!

I'll try to answer a few of your questions. In terms of using the progesterone cream, you can go ahead and use it to start your AF and then start the herbs. If you are looking to conceive, use the NPC 14 days on, 14 days off. Otherwise, you will suppress ovulation. Personally, I'm taking the Vitex and Dong Quai, CD 1-14, then NPC cd 15-28. I'm going to do this for awhile just to get things in a more normal state. I guess I could wait to see if I ovulate late, but for now, I'm not actively ttc. Just trying to get my hormones in balance.

I would probably talk to your doctor about the herbs use with insulin. I'm not sure about that. Hopefully, someone else can help.

thank you for your help!! I'm interested in ttc.......however, not actively...I too am interested in getting my hormones back....also thats the reason I'm on insulin and not gluc...the gluc didn't work for me and made me naucious for 6 months...so I thought I would eat right, exercise....and now I'm trying to work on hormone balance. I'm working hard to lose this weight and feel great...somethings bound to work!!

Anyone else know about the mix of the herbs with the insulin??
