Default Nuva Ring have you tried it?

Do you like using it? My RE was mentioning it to me because I was getting headaches and vision problems on the Yaz. If anyone can tell me anything I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, I was wondering can I take the Nuva Ring like I was the Yaz with taking the Placebo pills and continuously getting my period for lets say two months, my RE says that I could skip the sugar pills when I yaz if I wanted to for a few months and not get my period, I was wondering if I can do something like this on the Nuva Ring too, instead of stopping it on the 3rd week, keep continuing using it?

Please help me out here, any info?

Hi Regina! How are you? The twins are looking G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!

Isn't it weird to be worrying about bc now, after all that time of TTC? I went back on Ortho Tricyclen, and I am not happy with it at all. I'm having a lot of migraines and skin breaking out, so I'm shopping for a new method, too. An IUD--which is what I would've preferred, despite friends having problems with them--isn't an option for me, since I've got a septate uterus.

So the Ring might be an option for me, too. Here's my question: do you feel comfortable with the idea of putting it in and taking it out? I think taking it out would be worse. But maybe it's like contacts...it's kinda weird touching your eyes and dealing with them in the beginning, but you just get used to it?

the first few days of having it in...your constantly thinking "did i put it up high enough?" "can DH feel it when we are bd?"...(my DH swears that he could never feel it...)
It's probably simular to contacts, in the more often you do it, the more you become a "pro"...

my advice is to "twist" the ring, so it looks like an "8" and then insert it that way. you may need to hold the "8" in place...but it become much easier than keeping it in the "o" position

Ellie, be blunt and give me TMI...honestly, what is the process for um, removing it? Is it fairly simple?

I loved Nuva Ring. I felt so much better on it than I did on any BCP and I tried a few. The major benefit for me was not having to remember to take a pill everyday, which I often did!
The first time I put it in it was a little awkward...just like Cravingachild said I was worried if I put it far enough...But you don't feel it at all and after figuring out how to get it in, its really great!

Roary- taking it out is really easy, TMI but just put one finger up there, I used my middle finger cause its the longest, find it, hook your finger on it and just slide it out!

Hope that helps!

Thnak you SOO much girls!

Roary, Thank you SOO much for saying that about my babies
I think I'll be okay with putting it up there, I just hope I get it up far enough. I'm going to my RE in a few weeks, I'll let you know how it goes, I like the fact of it being such a low dosage too, instead of the high dosage ones, ya know...

i absolutely loved the nuvaring and had to stop it but as soon as i can i'll be back on it.
the first time i was not feelling it so i thought iy could have dropped during the night.. so i was continuosly run to the bathroom for checking it (sorry i know tmi but.. such a laugh!!).
my gyno also told me that the movement you do with your pelvic muscles to check it/to "adjust the position" it's the best pelvic training to prevent incontinence ever!!!

ps the twins are lovely and i exp love the names

I echo Lilly...just "hook" your finger in the loop...I pushed it up far enough so that i had access to pull it out later......so, it had to be at the tip of my fingers....
like italian friend said ...pelvic muscles helped!

I did Nuvaring for four months, and I personally still couldn't tolerate the estrogen in it (was bloating and blowing up at people). But that's me. My skin was beautiful, and head hair stayed put. AF very regular (although she wouldn't show for four days after removing ring). It was easy to insert--I pinched and put it up there. It never came out. I just hooked it or got DH to remove with his long fingers and it came right out. Not like the Sponge--that was a NIGHTMARE to get out when I tried it a few times before the Ring. I was less hormonal than other bcp, and I did NOT gain weight (nor have I lost any off the ring either, which showed I wouldn't have gained on Ring).

I plan to try a minipill, and failing that, go back on spiro w/ IUD and just bleed again.

I have also used the NuvaRing and completely recommend it to anyone considering it. It completely cleared up my face and I had none of the side effects that I had on other pills.

I was having terrible migraines with my period and so my doctor did tell me to "skip the placebo" essentially, as FluffyBurger questioned. What I do, is put the ring in for the 3 prescribed weeks, and Instead of leaving the ring out for one week, just insert the next one. I will caution that if you don't allow yourself a period every 2-3 months, I was getting breakthrough bleeding in the middle of the month.

BTW DBF says he never feels the ring!

I was on the Nuva Ring for about a year and a half and loved the convenience of it...only having to worry about it every few weeks. However, when I went off of it, I gained weight like crazy (about 35 lbs now). I have still not been diagnosed with PCOS but I am positive that's what I have. I know not being on birth control is not an option for some people, but the hormones it subjects your body to are brutal. BTW...did have to go on antidepressant medication while on it. Good luck with finding your answers!

Yes my doc told me I could do that. Instead of taking out for a week you just put in a new one. Never ever leave one in for more than 3 weeks it won't be as effective.
