My Mood: Points: 509.68 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 509.68 | I must agree i love the convenience of it as well.My only problem is I've gained 25 pounds. They just keep slowly but surely piling on I workout and watch my diet and still keep gaining. I wonder if it's the nuvaring I've been on it a year and a half and that's when it all started. Anyone else have this problem with nuvaring? |

My Mood: Points: 1,889.74 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,889.74 | I had a NuvaRing disaster on Thursday. It kept sliding out, not all the way, but I could feel it, no combination of contortionism/pelvic muscles could keep it up... Wednesday night it started to hurt and on Thursday the hurting got worse and along came itching. On the *inside.* It was AWFUL. Didn't help any w/the hormones. Clearly not the bcp for me. I had my gyn call in some Yaz and it started working hours after I took it.
I personally wouldn't recommend the NuvaRing, but you'd probably be okay. At least you could take it out if it didn't work for you.

I have been on Nuvaring for over a year (I think), and for the most part, I have been pleased.
When I was on oral BC, I tended to go nuts around the time of my placebo pills. Huge mood swings, deep lows, etc. I still have that some on Nuvaring, but not nearly so severe.
Also, sometimes the ring makes you itch. A lot. It has stopped doing this to me (thank heavens), but it was very nearly unbearable for a while. I would count the days until it was time to take it out and get my period. Usually it takes four to five days for my period to come once I have taken the ring out, which is rather annoying. Adding to that is having to insert while still menstruating...no tampons, if you prefer them. I am too scared things will get pushed out or lost if I use both.
Sometimes it does slip, but I have never lost it. All the advice about twisting the ring into an eight is right in my experience too.
And, my gyn said it can be taken out for three hours for sex, which I recommend. It may be psychological, but I just always felt weird that it was there during the act. Not sure I actually felt it, but I did a good job of imagining I did.
I really like not having to take another pill everyday...I have a hard enough time remembering those!

I was on it for over a year (before we decided to TTC). I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I plan on going back on it after a have a baby (if I ever do). The only bad thing I can say is I would get bouts of depression on it, but exercise and sun helped a lot. I didnt mind putting it in or taking it out, I was just always worried I would scratch myself cause I have long nails. Also when I got off I gained 20+ lbs. So thats a bad part. But other than that it was very convinient and DH said he couldnt feel it and he would try to "find it" when we would BD.

I didn't have any trouble inserting/removing it--but I'm not squeamish at all about that sort of thing (I use a menstrual cup too, if that gives you a clue). And I never knew it was there. |

Points: 385.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 385.98 | I used it for one day - not sure if my opinion is valid - I do believe you can skip periods on it, it burned enough the first day that I decided it was not for me.
Putting it in and taking it out was no big deal. Great concept. |

My Mood: Points: 22,601.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 22,601.98 | I used it for a year and loved it. I loved not having to think about BC every day like with a pill. It was a little hard to get the hang of inserting it at first, but not too bad; and I never had any trouble removing it. I never had any side effects or itching. DH did occasionally feel it during sex, but it didn't bother him or anything. It was just a little bump.
Once I am done with BF this soon-to-be-born baby, I will go back on Nuvaring.

Points: 378.52 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 378.52 | i was on it for about a year...i finally had to stop because of insurance, it went up to $60 a month!
pros:
+ only having to deal with it once a month
+ no worries about forgetting to take it, or if you throw up you're still covered, etc etc
+ it helped my skin get clear, and i didn't have any of the wacky hormone effects that i'd had from other pills
+ made my periods light and short, and very regular
cons:
- i had a LOT of discharge. not necessarily a con, but it was disconcerting at first. i eventually got used to it, though.
- i could feel it during sex sometimes, but could never think of a non-awkward segue before sex to remove it! haha!
- it would slip down low/start to poke out sometimes. i usually noticed this when i'd go to the bathroom, and i'd just have to poke it back up there! lol |

DH never felt it, it only fell out once and that was after a lot of sex. but i just washed it off and put it back in. i would just write on the calander when i put it in so i would remember when ti take it out. when i got it from PP they gave me a lil clock that was made for the ring and would beep when it was time to take it out and put it back in LOL
