I just started the Nuva Ring last week and have some questions. First of all, I cannot get it further than a finger length (so maybe 2.5-3 inches?) in, is this far enough in? It hasn't fallen out at all, but I can feel it creeping down towards my vaginal opening a couple times a day, I get kind of a tingling sensation-- it's weird. Once I check to see how things are going and if I did in fact feel it coming down, it's only about an inch in vs. where it started out. Has anybody experienced this?
I haven't had sex since I started it because I had abdominal surgery right after I started it and not feeling back to normal. But I have a feeling once we do start having sex again, he will feel it. What has your SO said about feeling the ring while having sex? Can he feel it? Does it bother him?
Also I do have some acne normally, but I have way worse acne this week. They are deep and they hurt like hell! Only on my right side of my face though. I know sometimes you have to get use to BC and the changes, but I'm wondering how long this is going to last for? Also I have very very tender breasts.
I thought about waiting until after the surgery to start the Nuva Ring, but the surgeon and my GYN said it would be fine. But I'm not sure if the acne is from the stress of surgery or the BC. I guess time will tell with those.. what are your thoughts?

Doing Low GI diet as of Sept. 07. DX with PCOS in Sept 07' as well.
Started at a size 24, now a size 14. My waist was 44", now it's 32".
I am on no medication, just diet and exercise.
Thank you all for your support and information! I encourage all of you to do a Low Glycemic diet!
I wish I had answers to your questions! I just started NuvaRing this past Sunday. It wasn't the most fun thing to put in, I was so afraid it was too big to fit! According to the diagrams, it just sits there and really can't go in that far. I haven't had any problems with mine moving--not even when I used a tampon yesterday.
As for the acne, BCP always cleared mine up mostly (I did really well on Yaz, but that gave me terrible mood swings and cramps, and it went away until I took the reminder pills with Ortho Tri Cyclene Low). During the month I was off BCP to be tested for PCOS, my acne came back double. It hasn't cleared up yet on NuvaRing. I'm hoping it does soon. You mentioned really deep, painful acne. I've only had one of those, it occured right under my lower lip, in the corner of my mouth.
I don't know whether it can be felt during sex. According to the paperwork, men felt it but they didn't mind. Because of the placement of the ring, I'm guessing there's no way to get around that, unless you take it out right before sex.
I hope NuvaRing works for you! I'm definitely excited not to have to take BCP anymore--though sometimes I feel like I'm forgetting to take the pill.
I've been on Nuvaring for about 9 months now. It only goes in about 1" or so, and stays put. Even if I try to seat it higher it adjusts itself to the same place every time. I feel quite dizzy the day after starting it, but otherwise haven't had any negative side affects. I always start mine on a Friday night so that way I have the weekend to adjust to the medicine. (I work Monday-Friday.) I take it out before intercourse and then put it back in afterwards. We haven't tried with it in - just seems awkward to us! Also I am one of the fortunate few who has no acne, so I can't comment on that part.
I can say that Nuvaring has made my cycles bearable. I hardly have any cramping now, whereas before I had to take 3-4 days off work just because I couldn't handle the pain. It has saved my job!
I just started my Nuvaring my last cycle and I am now on my 7 day break. The way my doctor explained it to me was, position doesnt matter a whole lot as long as it is in your vagina, the hormones will be passed into your system. As for falling out, mine never felt like it was going to fall out, I never really felt it at all, I actually had to feel and make sure it was still there because I couldnt feel it, but it did fall out once during intercourse with DH and once when I was taking a tampon out, and I just rinsed it off with water and put it back in. I think it can be out for up to 3 hours and you still be protected..someone correct me if I am wrong. I have also notice I have more acne since starting it but just attribute it to all the new hormones and whatnot. But all in all I really liked it, and like alot better than the pills or the shot that I ahve tried before.
