No snow where I am yet, although they say London and around will get some. I love snow, but this country is never prepared for it even when the forecasters have been saying for a week or two, the country still manages to grind to a halt, sometimes over a pathetic amount of snowfall. When I was in tons of snow in Canada in 2002, my friend emailed as 1" of snow here paralysed a whole motorway.... I remember 30 yrs ago the country getting covered in snow regularly and it never seemed to have the problem it does now.

Well it's that cold in the house I can't sleep! It's 3.20am so I am up and drinking some tea! In my lunch break today I am going to Argos to buy an Electric blanket!!!!
No snow here, but I just let Alfie out for a wee, and poor little thing was begging to come back in, you can feel the ice just stood at the door... please think of me when I go to work, I don't wanna break my leg this time!!! lol
I am planning a quiet weekend, so I don't mind the snow if it comes I only have to get to the hairdresser on Saturday morning.... lol
WE did have a snow overnight. So I was out with my son in it before half 7 this morning I can walk in it when it's still falling.
Good job it's all but gone now, as I would have to cancel my hair cut if it was still there. Eva
Been very windy and cold but no snow... My parents had a dusting 10 miles away though I wasn't disappointed as I hate the stuff.. That's why I'm not keen to live in Finland..My husband was gutted tho
I remember about 18 yrs ago I was on night duty and it was about 4am in the morning. The night sister came up to the ward and said to my friend and myself, oh have you seen the snow outside.. well she couldnt believe her eyes when I jumped out of the chair, opened the back door and was running around in the snow, I think she thought I had completely lost my marbles. My friend said, dont worry she loves snow...
In school when I was the upper 6th (grade 12), we had heavy snowfalls (lived in Northamptonshire then) and when we had free periods some of us would sneak into the canteen and take the dinner trays. We had a wonderful high bank going down to the sports field so armed with trays off we went and had great fun. Then in assembly (do they still have them now??) the headmistress announced "please would the 6th formers stop taking the dinner trays as they are being totally bent out of shape and ruined".. I think then we resorted to just sliding down on our jackets, as 6th formers we didnt have to wear school uniform.
When I was in Canada in winter 2002 made a snow angel (hadnt done one for years), my friend did her snow angel and I did mine, hers was perfect, as was mine until I tried to get up out of the snow. By the time my friend and girlfriend had finished laughing at me, my snow angel took on the look of a mutant something, couldnt even say mutant angel really.. several days later my friends snow angel was still perfect..

I have only been in the UK for a year (a year and 3 days to be exact!). being from Canada, I found it absolutely hysterical how London came to a complete stand still when we had 1cm of snow!

So true oohmercyme, as a kid we had reguar seasons over here and in winter the country got snow, this is going back about 35 yrs and I never remember it causing so much of a problem. Ok i was a kid but you still heard things on the news etc...
It doesn't matter how many times the forecaster ay we are going to have snow, the UK is never prepared. Not that the forecasters are that accurate with the weather half the time...lol It amazes me how such a small amount of snow paralyzes this country.
Then of course you have the trains... sorry the trains have been cancelled today because we have:
The wrong type of snow
The wrong type of ice
The wrong sort of leaves
The wrong trees on the railway embankments
The wrong rain
I am waiting for the next "wrong" problem will be for the trains.
Where did you eventually get your job, I remember you had a choice of Greenwich and Bromley if memory serves me correctly...

You took the words out of my mouth then! I was just going to mention, whatever weather there is in this country, the British Transport systems always come to grinding halt, or anything for that matter! Whether it's snow in winter, leaves on the line in autumn/winter, heatwaves in summer that so many people are trying to get to the coast you can't get ANYWHERE on the motorways OR rail practically anywhere in the South. Don't you just love it here, lol!!!!!!!!!!!
On the topic of winter, I have got myself some lovely winter hats today Nice & snug
