This isn't PCOS related, but I think maybe weight related.
I have this problem with my feet - I don't walk right on them, I think I walk on the sides - on the kind of outter sides of my feet...it doesn't really bother me apart from the fact I can't wear the shoes that I want to; any high heels/stillettoesand they make it worse; its noticable and I go boundy legged whilst walking in them....
I really hate this because although I don't wear really high high heels; only 2-3 inches at the most but I can't do it....but I like wearing heels-they make me look and feel more femanine...
It may have been something to do with me wearing the wrong size shoes for a long time when i was younger or the fact that I'm overweight?
I wondered if anyone else suffered from this or similar and any suggestions?
You should see a FOOT Dr. and I can't think of the right name for that kind of Dr.
I think what you are describing is pronating... or that might be the exact opposite.
Do you have any other problems... Knees hurt? hips hurt?
The foot dR can make you special inserts for shoes to help your body re-learn how to walk... But I would really do this with a Dr. you don't want to 'cause any undue strain on the rest of your body... It's all very connected...

I agree with cdcm. The dr you want to see is a pediatrist. The way people walk on there feet is something that happens when they are younger, it can be from wearing the wrong size shoes, or maybe you were just born that way. I was born pigeon toed and wore corrective shoes for a year in grade school. It was a blessing because I don't trip over myself like I did before the shoes.
Another thing that can affect how you walk on your feet is your knees. I know that my knees were a small contributing factor then as well. My knee caps were not in the correct position and I also had to have them shifted. I don't remember exactly what was done but it was not painful. I think it had to do with some sort of exercise. Of course I was just a kid, 2nd grade, and all I remember were those ugly shoes I had to wear. At least I didn't get teased about them.
Talk to you regular doctor and they might be able to help you or refer you to a pediatrist.

What you have is supination. This can be caused by a number of things, as the other ladies have mentioned. If it's found that the problem is with your feet, specially made orthotics can really help with this.
I have a really high arch and pronate (the opposite of supinate, where my ankles turn inward). I've been wearing my orthotics in my shoes for a number of years now and things are MUCH better. In my case, the problem was genetic but my extra weight just made it worse. I will always have to wear orthotics but my feet feel SO much better now, I'll never NOT want to wear them.
Good luck and I hope you can find a doc that will help.

Thanks so much for your help ladies; I shall speak to my doctor next time I see him (only saw him yesterday - DOH!) was gonna mention it to him then but I didn't think he would bother too much with it as it doesn't bother me as in pain etc...
I did this years ago. I would wear away 1/2 of my heels from walking on the sides of my feet. Most of my sneakers wore away on one side only. In the last ten years I've not noticed this happening at all. My gym teacher lectured me for "walking wrong." Oddly enough, it seemed to get better after I gained weight, and now that I'm loosing weight the problem isn't coming back.
for me, my feet are slanted on the outside. It got so bad that i developed shin splints. They were so painful. I could barely walk a block before i would get the most excruciating pain in the front and in the calf of my leg. It was almost dibiletating. I am 34 and i had old ladies passing me up on the streets!
I went to see a podiatrist and they diagnosed me. I really didn't believe that the custom made orthodics would help, but they did!!! Although i only have them in my sneakers (which i wear all the time) i find that on occasion i can wear dressy shoes for a brief period. I no longer have the pain in my legs, and my shoes don't wear out as much.
You should know that the cushion inserts at the drug store do not help this problem. you have to get custom made orthodics from the podiatrist.

I do this too. Also if I am standing for a while I find myself rolling to the outside edge of my feet I have made a conscious effort to stop walking with my feet pointed out, after my grandfather pointed it out to me when I was in High School.
Now I guess that I do need to go see a podiatrist.
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
