I just bought the Gillian McKeith Cookery book today from Waterstones. I know that someone was talking about it the other day....... but I cant remember who
I got it from the library a few months back. It looked like it had a lot of good recipes in it. I don't know how true all her theories are, but it always works on TV! Hope you find it useful!

I just bought the cookbook today too, as I had a WHSmiths voucher to use up - and it was also in their 'Buy One Get One Half Price' thing, so I got the Journal to go with Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' - which I've been doing for months, but the journal's only just come out.
I got one of Gillian's other books out of the library and enjoyed it so much I thought I'd buy the cookbook!
Keep us posted with the recipes you try, Eva and whether they worked/what you thought of them! The couple of things I made so far from her latest book (I forget the title) have worked really well. I'll have a go at summat from the Cookbook on Monday, when I've had time to make a shopping list!

haha. I know what you mean about the shopping list.............
I got the stuff in today to try the pasta salad (p194) as my dh likees the look of it too. I'll cook that for tomorrow (Tues) as we had yesterdays left over veg/ etc today.
Which are you doing??
Eva
I tried the you are what you eat cookbook and eating regime a while back. While I think the recipes are very healthy and tasty, I'm not sure about the overall "diet". It seems to be very carb heavy and personally I have found that I am able to maintain my weight and feel less hungry when I limit carbs.
While following Gillians guidelines, I found myself with an absolutely monster appetite, wanting to eat all the time (although I was eating healthy food).
I didn't lose weight and was quite bloated a lot of the time.
I would be interested to hear how you all get along with it.
Best of luck.

Ah I'm not following the plan, just varying my existing diet with some new recipes! I've been a veggie for years but realised recently my diet's getting a bit narrow - fish, salad, Quorn in curries, Quorn in stir-fries... etc. So I thought I'd give Gillian a whirl! (There's a woman who knows what do with with aduki beans!)
I've lost most of my weight now - only 6lb left to go, which isn't shifting, so I thought a diet change might move things along a bit! And I lost my 35lbs on a carb heavy diet - 60% carbs, although mostly low GI, but when I tried low carbing I put ON a stone in less than a month - so I guess we're all different!
I have been using Rosemary Conley's books mainly, so I was more bothered about fat % than carb as that's what works for me! I'm doing a couple of Gillian meals a week with pulses, to gradually knock down our fish intake as I want to go back to true vegetarianism when I've lost all the weight.
I found that having a carby diet has helped me because I have masses of energy (I felt almost dead low carbing!) Which in turn means I can exercise an hour a day. I think Gillian might be dodgy diet-wise not so much in the carbs (as most of them are low GI), but in her utter lack of interest in portion control. So when cooking a Gillian pasta recipe, for example, I will stick with Rosemary Conley's 2 oz pasta per person rule!
I think you've got to be careful with it, as some of it could be quite calorific and the 'science' behind it is dodgy, but it's great for new recipes to add in to an existing eating plan.

we just had sweet potato wedges with low fat dips. Not 100 per cent healthy, but you know how it is sometimes.
Im soaking some lentils/ beans for tomorrow. Not sure what to do with them, though. It's black eye peas, lentils etc. I've only just become vegitarian so I am still learning.

Good luck to both of you with the Gillian Recipes, they are quite nice. I guess it's just me who can't take many carbs (but then again I am quite strange, ha)
While we're on the subject of Gillian, I don't wish to be mean, but do you think she is a good advertisement for the book? She may be thin (very thin) but to me she doesn't look that healthy (maybe it's just me again!) what do you think? I guess that most people who get the book won't be bothered by that if they lose weight. I do have a strange sort of fixation about this type of thing. A nutritionist came to my local health food shop and I was going to go and see him, then I saw a photograph of him and thought 'well he doesn't look healthy or well nourished' so I didn't end up going. Weird or not?
Blessings
