I have always thought that oatmeal is good for PCOSers and IR. Today, I found thse articles, and there are more on the Internet that refers to oats impact on testosterone in the body. I am confused. So long, when I have been taking my otemal, have I just been kindling my hirsutism. Oh God!!! This is sooo confusing. Crazy!!!

In looking through things, I found that Oatmeal is a refined version of straw oats, which is one ingrediant put into pills that are supposed to up sexual performance. Refined might be the key there. The other information I found says it "can" help boost testosterone. My guess is the findings are not consistent, nor are they significant enough to say with confidence.

In my opinion, the benefits of oatmeal seem to outweigh something that isn't proven. If anyone asks their doctor, I'd be interested to hear about it.

Also, most of the info I found that said it "apparently" boosts testosterone was from oat companies or pills to help your sex drive. I don't want to say it's propaganda, but it is advertising something the majority of the population wouldn't argue with...

I don't know where you found that, but I don't understand it at all. Perhaps you could explain a bit further?
In the US and Canada "oatmeal" is used with a different meaning from the rest of the world. Elsehwere (and the website you cited was Irish) "oatmeal" is used to describe oats which have been ground to a meal form (i.e. not rolled by being passed through rollers or cut. In the US and Canada, however, "oatmeal" is also used to describe cut or rolled oats, but I wasn't aware that the term could also include the straw on which the oats grow and which is normally considered a waste product.

The site that I found that was a site for "Great Sex in a Bottle" out of Texas. http://www.meltdown.com/testost.htm

My point is, they might take the findings of a small sample of people, and that's enough to say it can happen. I have found nothing that says concretely, "It's been proven" or "oatmeal will up testosterone levels".

I just noticed on a website called www.holisticonline.com there are lists of foods that increase and inhibit estrogen. Oats were listed as a food that increases it.
