My GYNO diagnosed my PCOS and I love her to death (easily the best doctor I've EVER seen!), but I'm wondering if maybe I should be working with an Endo too. If anyone needs an excellent OB/GYN team in Northeast WI, let me know! I'd be happy to give you a referral!! |

An Endo works with your body systems, i.e., your hormones (endocrine glands), therefore, they may specialize in PCOS, diabetes, thyroid issues, etc. and trying to reduce our symptoms. A Reproductive Endo is a fertility specialist. HTH

An OB only has a couple of months of training in infertility, and an RE has years. My OB was a great guy but couldn't figure out what to do with me, he kept giving me chlomid and it wasn't working. After a ton of reading I got fed up and looked for an RE, he wouldn't even give me a name of one he recomended. So I went up to the teaching hospital in my state 4 hrs away. It was worth it. The knew what they were doing, they listened to me, and they were in constant contact with me through out the infertility process. If it was not for them I would not be expecting right now. And in some cases OBs are willing to work with an RE. I say the more people on your team the better.

Eventhough he knew about my PCOS but still had no idea how to really treat the PCOS and the fertility. I told him I found an RE to see and he we discussed the Fertility Group I was wanting to see and it turns out that it is the same doctor he was refering to. My OB/GYN is a great doctor but he just could not treat the complexity of PCOS. Good Luck in your search. Melissa
