Default Ocella - Excesive bleeding

Hello,
I am 21 and began taking Ocella 4 weeks ago (the last week being my period). Yesterday was suppose to be the last day of hell week, but I discovered this afternoon an excessive amount of vaginal bleeding when I went to use the restroom. The blood appears to be fresh as if it were from a paper cut or scrape, so I am worried something might be wrong. I have tried searching around online for answers, but was unable to find any helpful information. Has anyone else experienced similar problems while taking Ocella or know why this is happening? Thank you.

Ocella is the generic for Yasmin, right? I was taking Yasmin when I got pregnant with my son. The progestin part of the pill is derived from spironalactone which is a diuretic and anti-androgen a lot of women with PCOS take. So Yasmin is supposed to be good for PCOS. I bled like crazy when I took spiro - it's a known side effect. I also bled like crazy taking Yasmin, I assumed because of the spiro-derived progestin.

Sometimes you will bleed funny the first few cycles on BCP but sometimes it is a problem with the pill itself that won't go away with time. They say gave any pill 3 months and see what happens. I gave Yasmin 3 months and the bleeding never stopped... then I stopped it for a while... went back on and got pregnant that cycle and had no bleeding, thinking it was because I'd "adjusted" to the pill.

But it was my son holding up the bleeding.

Not sure if this helps at all..when first started orthotri(I know different pill) I was bleeding very very heavy!!!! Called dr and they had me come in to get higher pill does...the hormones where not not high enough to substain a non-sheading unterine lining..it just keeped sloughing off. Shortly after new pill(just plain othro) the bleeding stopped!!! Thank god!! Tampoons and pads get pricey after a month!!!!

Default Ocella

I have also been taking Ocella, but my symptoms are way different, i just started my third week of Ocella, and I'm hoping that this is just normal, anyways, I started my period the day i started my third week on Sunday night of this product, and im bleeding at different hours and all. Is this because of switch of birth controls, and not taking any for a month?

I'm on my 4th month and hopefully last month. My first month was very heavy and then my body adjusted to it and now its bearable. Moderate flow for about 4 to 5 days. My advice is to stick with it and see how it works for you, but thats just my opinion. You should always do what feels best for you.
