OMG AtlantaChick, I got a pimple at the middle of the forehead too. . Yasmin really got rid of my acne though. But the best part of Yasmin, my hair started growing back.

I have been on Yasmin for about 3 years and just started Ocella about a week ago. Well I woke up this morning and I have my period AGAIN. I am taking the yellow pills of course and I am bleeding. This never happened with Yasmin, I think I'll have to switch back.

Well ladies! AF is gone and I'm super excited! I start my 2nd pack today! Still, no complications, my hair isn't shedding as much as it was 2 months ago (maybe because I actually straighten it now). My pimple is gone (w/o leaving a scar b/c I didn't pop it, I just let nature take it's course) and my face is clear and pretty!! YAY! I'll keep on with the updates!

I took yasmin for a couple years and then in the beginning of this summer, I switched to Yaz because my doctor had free samples. Three months later, yaz was a complete disaster. I felt like i was going to explode from emotional distress and my boobs hurt all the time. I just didnt feel like my easy-going self, and I was a mess.

So, I finally tried to switch back to yasmin and instead, I got Ocella. With the cost being significantly low, I thought, "cool!" but now, in my 3rd week of ocella, my boobs have been really sore since the beginning of week 2, I have been feeling extremely bloated & bit depressed, and to top it all off, I'm breaking out with some kind of allergic reaction on my chin. I dont want to pay 30-50 bucks for yasmin again...but I just want to know opinions on if these are adjustment side effects. I feel like it's similar to the beginning stages of yaz, and I can't go through with that again. Should I just bite the bullet and switch back to yasmin, no if, ands, or buts? Ive noticed that's what a lot of yasmin-ocella women are doing when I read messege boards.

I'm thinking of starting the generic next month maybe. I found out the beginning of July that Yasmin had a generic when I went to get my Rx filled and they told me $40 instead of the $25! The dr switched me to Yaz saying it had the exact same hormones and only difference was you take more pills and shorter period. WELL, so not the case. I have been bleeding for over 2 weeks now! I will stay the rest of this pack, but if I don't stop bleeding after the next one, forget it. Hope this generic works as well as Yasmin. It's been the only one that really works for me. I'll be keeping track of your success hopefully

I just had to refill my prescription for Yasmin and was going to just get the Ocella but all the side effects people have been mentioning I chickened out and made sure to specify I wanted the Yasmin. Maybe after it's been out for awhile longer there will be some more evidence of the side effects..I'll stick with my Yasmin for now. Don't want to go backwards after it's helped me feel so much better!

I think all the ladies who have been having these side effects should definitely write Barr Laboratories to inform them. Telling your Dr. will not make a difference in the medication itself, it will prolong the changes that can be made by the lab itself.

I'm on the first week of my second pack and I still haven't had any weird side effects.

I just finished my first month of Ocella. It's great! I was paying $25 for 3 months of Yasmin. I paid $5 for 3 months of Ocella. I haven't noticed any differences between Yasmin and Ocella. When I was a pharmacy technician, I learned that generic medications have to go through the same FDA testing as the brand. The active ingredients are the same as the brand in the same amount as the brand. The only ingredients that may differ are the inactive ingredients. Occasionally, generic medications are even manufactured by the same company as the brand! I'm not sure if all these side effects are due to people having much greater sensitivities to differences in the inactive ingredients, or if its just that people are attributing things to the Ocella just because they are on something different. Buying generic drugs is not like buying generic brands of food/household goods. Generic doesn't mean lower quality in prescriptions.

@ little_t
Today I start my 2nd week of my 2nd pack and I am LOOOOOOOOOOVING this stuff! Also, I just realized that at the exact time last month when I started Ocella, that I got a pimple on my chin and forehead. Last week I got one on the other side of my chin and on my temple. But I don't mind the blemish here and there. But there could be other factors contributing to the breakouts. Such as shaving and putting moisturizer my hair.

Some of the conditions I see some of the other ladies going over are kind of mind over matter, I believe.

I start my first pack of Ocella on Sunday. I received it in the mail the other day and from appearances it pretty much looks the same. I really hope that I don't have any side effects because I really like my Yasmin. I don't think my insurance will pay for a brand name medication if a generic is available. I am excited though because I payed $30 for 3 months instead of $30 for 1 month!

@Sarahsue

I'm on my 2nd week of my 2nd month and I haven't had any differences come about. I've been as "normal" as can be! LOL!

Unhappy Ocella

I just got on the internet to research Ocella and came across this site. I just made the switch from Yasmin 2 weeks ago, I also did a little happy dance when the pharmacy tech told me I only had to pay $10. My insurance switched to generic and I didn't give it another thought. 5 days after I started taking it, I told my husband that I've been feeling a little nauseous for the past few days which always comes with that little thought in the back your mind "I wonder if I'm pregnant?". I've been on Birth Control for 10 months since my son was born so I wasn't really that worried. But today as I sitting here wondering why I have gone off on my husband for the past 3 out of 4 nights for no reason, I started thinking, maybe I really am pregnant! Which got me thinking about birth control, remembering that i was switched to something new I decided to look it up. I have seen many complaints on this & other sights, mostly about nausea, dizziness, and break-outs. I don't seem to have any blemish issues yet, but I did have a small dizzy spell last night. I'm not sure if I should just throw the pills away or ride out the rest of the month & hope it gets better. I know 1 thing for sure, my marriage isn't going to survive these massive mood swings!

@Gulfcoastgirl

The best advice I could give you is to contact Barr Laboratory regarding your side effects. Rather than just speaking amongst yourself and others, contact the people who can actually make a difference in the product. Personally, other than 2 pimples, I haven't had any other side effect... mood swings/dizziness/nausea/bleeding/spotting/etc... and I'm on my 2nd pack.

Hi . I'm currently on Ocella. I wasnt to happy when pharmacy gave me Ocella instead of Jasmine. I am now-lol! The symptoms you describe is what i felt on yasmine. I was very moody and angry. I HATED my MIL just thinking of her pissed me off. I felt dizzy, nauses at times but the anger i felt was unbelievable. Now that i'm on Ocella i feel much calmer and no more anger toward my MIL. Its weird but true. I finished my first pack last week and got AF right on schedule. Hopefully i'll get 2 more Af's before i try concieving-yipeeeeeeeee!
