I have been on Ocella for 3 months and i am in the second week of my 4th pack. The last few weeks i have been having extremely bad side pains on the right side. Sometimes they are so bad they bring tears to my eyes and am bent at the waist from the pain. I also feel nauseas (sp?)
What could this be?

Where exactly are the side pains? Are they up by your rib cage or down lower, closer to your waist. Is there a pattern as to when they occur, or are they constant? When I first started Ocella, I switched from Yasmin, and I would get side pains during the placebo week. Somebody suggested they were a gas pain, but they were up right under my rib cage. After a few months they went away. About 8 months later I would get them again and I would also get naseous everytime I ate. My doctor thought that it sounded like gallbladder pains. I had a HIDA scan done and it was determined my gallbladder wasn't working. I had my gallbladder removed in May and I haven't had the problem since. Just an idea, I hope it helps.

Sarahsue: Its almost constant. Its an everyday thing. Every so often it will be like a sharp pain sometimes in the middle, sometimes near my ribs. I did Webmd it, although i dont highly trust webmd, and it said gallbladder. I decided to stop taking the Ocella on my own just so if it was related i wouldnt cause more damage. Now that you said it was gallbladder for you i am going to make a doctors appointment just to be sure.
Thank you!

If a doctor suspects Gallbladder problems, the first thing he/she will do is probably and ultrasound and some blood tests. The blood tests will rule out other things and the ultrasound will tell if there are any abnormalities with the Gallbladder. Your doctor then may or may not request a HIDA scan which is also a non-evasive test. If you do have gallbladder problems, after you have it removed you should not have the problem. The surgery is generally a day surgery and performed laproscopically. Good luck!
