I have been on Metformin 1000mg/day and Alesse for a month and a half. The first couple of weeks I had a lot of stomach aches and nausea, which I understand is perfectly normal. Then the nausea etc disappeared for a week or so and came back with a vengeance. I also have no appetite what so ever. The stomach problems feel sort of like PMS cramps, but it's the wrong time for them so it just doesn't make sense.
I also have really oily skin (which I have never had before) and pimples from top to bottom, literally.
My breasts are really sore too, and my nipples are hyper sensitive.
None of this makes sense. Reading around here and other places the only thing that 'fits the profile' is pregnancy, but that can't be. I wasn't ovulating before the doctor put me on BC even. (To bring my period back, but still.)
Bah. Anyone have any suggestions?
Could be the Met, it really took me a few months to overcome all the side effects. Not sure what Alesse is, is it a bcp? I take yasmin which has been a life saver as far as acne goes. Though I still go thru times where I get crazy oily skin which happens around my cycle. Sounds like its possible you could be ovulating that can cause cramping. (I've ovulated while on bcp and had similar symptoms.) The best advise I could give is if things don't settle down in a few days to make an appointment with your Dr.
Alesse is a BCP, yes.
I don't know if it's them, or something else, but I find that I have more acne now than before I was put on them.
Thank you for your advice though, it makes a little more sense now since I am at 'ovulating time' (even though it's not supposed to happen) on my pill tray. Meaning day 14 or so in the cycle.
It could be the metformin it can cause your body to feel crazy. Or you could be going to start, the met might be just doing weird things to your cycle.Or you could take a pregnancy test and see you never know. Anything is possible!!!!!God Bless
I'm on met and I find I feel nauseated sometimes but not always, have alot of acne (but thats been pretty bad since stoppid BCP) and very very oily skin. I also get period cramps but without the actual period - baffles me really considering I just don't have them at all.
I still feel 'weird', but not as bad as the last few days. I have started taking mental notes of everything I eat (which isn't all that hard considering I hardly eat at all at the moment), but it seems to get worse when I eat what my endocrinologist told me to - low fat, low starch, low sugar and high fiber.
I stick to it though because I really want to lose the 5 kg she told me to lose so me and my husband can move on with trying to conceive.
But I found one thing that doesn't mess my system up at all - yoghurt! It actually soothes me. A glass of milk in the morning and at night works wonders too.
