Smile An official introduction (newbie from Fl)

Hello to all,
My name is Lisa and I'm new to SC and was just recently diagnosed with PCOS a couple of months ago. I've been posting here for about a week now and realized that I've never officially introduced myself or shared what brought me here.

I'm a 29 y.o. stay at home Mom of Olivia(4) and Alex (2). My PCOS symptoms began right around the age of 14-16 although i had no idea then. I've always struggled with anxiety and depression. Maybe the PCOS contributed to that? Over the years I've dealt with excess facial and body hair, acne, oily skin, and like I stated before, the anxiety and depression. After the birth of my youngest, the anxiety became nearly crippling. I felt totally lost, scared, and although I was able to function I truly did not feel like myself at all. It was bad! Looking back those symptoms began right around the time I had more and more hair coming in.

I've been on Lexapro for a year and what a difference that has made. It wasn't until my official PCOS diagnosis that I realized that all this is linked somehow. Why did it take me so long to realize that the root of this could have been hormones all along? Anyway, I'm currently on 100 mg of Spironolactone for the excess androgens. Been taking it for about a week now and I really hope it works! It would be nice to not see five new hairs come in on my body every week!

I'm so grateful that I found this sight. It's a tremendous relief to see that I'm not alone. I look foward to meeting and talking to all of you!

welcome to sc ive been on spiro since 2001, and it has helped with the hair. My endo said that it takes about 9-12 months to get to maximum result
