 Hiya
I too started metformin yesterday (500mg 3 times a day) and i feel as sick as a pig... 
Its kinda similiar too when i get a bought of gastroenteritus...kinda permanent acid indigestion.
At least i dont feel like eating much and ive dropped 4lb since tuesday when i was weighed at the hospital.
Im dreading my first period as i havent had one for nearly 2 years.
Going from nothing to 1500mg sucks....but i live with it coz i know its gonna work...dont ask me how i know i just do.

Just popped my first pill with a glass of milk ( couldn't take it with food but about half an hour after) will this be okay?
How soon will it start to take effect? I'm soo scared!

Emma,
Your doctor started you out at 1500mg strait off? That is probably why you are so sick. My RE had me start with the 500mg and then build up slowly. I had a little bit of sickness, but noting too bad. That might help a bit with you as well.
I hope everyone who is starting Met in the next few days or just started has good luck. It can be tough the first few weeks. If no one has told you yet, watch what you eat. Green veggies like salads and cuccumber can cause bathroom emergiencies if your not carefull. Just some advice.

Jen~ Thank you for all your support and info! No green veggies today... took it last night but I had the funkiest dream! It was of a sexual nature and I never dream like that.... it's almost like I had an 'o' in my sleep... is this normal??

Okay,
So. The only se of the met that I've had are:
1. two nights of orgasmic sex dreams
2. lack of apetite
3. waking up in the middle of the night and having a hard time falling asleep
4. insomnia...... can't get to sleep at night!
Are any of these 'normal' ?
How is everyone else doing that's started met/gluc?

gl to u all!! | I started met a week and a half ago. I did 500 mg for a week, now I've been on 1000 mg for 5 days. I also have been having sleep issues. I wake up over and over during the night, so I wake up not feeling rested at all. I've also had the lack of appetite (but I just figured that was because I've been so nauseous). As for the sex dreams, I am having the total opposite. For the first time ever, I actually couldn't make it to the big "o" the other night! Talk about being upset, LOL. Then the next night, I did but it wasn't as easy as before. I guess its just the hormonal changes causing it, but it really sucks. Here's to hoping we both improve soon! | |
