I'm currently onto month number three since my cycles ceased and i'm in near constant pain, it's I have to admit, been rather hard for me and what helps me get through is having a shoulder to cry on.
Sometimes women skip periods, skipping one is no big deal really.. but when you start skipping two or three, something is up.
Basically, with pcos what usually causes the skipping of a period is that you just didn't ovulate that month. Other causes that aren't related to pcos include: Stress, lack of sleep, pregnancy, certain medications.
Skipping one period isn't a particularly big deal, here's hoping it's a one off thing!

It could be that she's not ovulating and therefore didn't have a period, OR she could be pregnant, in which case congrats. Have her take a home pregnancy test. Let us know.

Does your girlfriend chart her cycles? That's something you can help with if you live together. My DH isn't really into it, but he will get up & get my thermometer for me if I leave it by the computer. Good Luck!

My Mood: Points: 2,432.57 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,432.57 | Hang in there Anthony,
I would like to ask you some question if I may. One how long have you both been dealing with this thus far. Statement now my wife was not treated for almost 2 years it was crazy and rough on us both. You must not if you think its time MUST talk to her about everything. YOU must tell her you are there, you MUST tell her everyday how good she is in everyway. I am going to be blunt here so take it how you like. But dont or stop think with the boys. if you know what i mean. It is great that you edacuted your self on the matter at hand so then you know that she mostly will stop if not lowered sex drive. NEVER think it is you as i once did before I got edacuated on the matter. Now the matter on not getting her period my wife has not had one in over 2 years now.
Back log for ya I was in the military in Germany. We were trying to have a child but could not. Hence she went in for test to start it out, and the doc's said well you might have this we are not trained in that area so we can not say for certain. Then she started seeing another off base doc she too was not sure. Finally we came back to the states were a doc saw my wife and within mins told her yes you have PCOS. Gave her meds and after 2 years i feel i have my BF, my everything and yes well lover. But that does not mean our struggle is though. She still has moods swings o my god these make AF look like nothing. But its worth it i have my wife back, she looks as if the veil of darkness has been lifted.
So stick by her side and support her love her but if you need someone to talk to I will be here on this site for the rest of my life or as long as it here cuase its not like this goes away. And remember the man always need to talk or get things off his chest just never be to proud to ask for help. |

My Mood: Points: 4,894.63 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,894.63 | Tony, when I first found out that I had it, I was fighting alot with my boyfriend, who was just as much of a control freak as I was at the time. The hormones interefered with everything from relating to dealing with the PCOS news and what was required of me, it's stressful. Then a woman has to deal with you leaving and we wonder that in the back of our mind if you will which causes stress. We can feel very alone with this disorder and then when we have a man, that factors into our emotions too. I was a mess when first diagnosed and it could have been so much easier if I had my bf's total committment to me as a person. The fact that you are on here is amazing. Men usually don't care about the things women go thru and we really want men in our lives, we need you guys.
If she gets irritable and cranky ask her what you can do for her and see if that helps. Usually we need something we aren't getting that creates more inner turmoil and not many men ask "What do you need from me right now?" with the open mind and willingness to provide it.
Just know we are not using hormones to control you. They control us and having your understanding is what makes us secure until we are balanced with medicines. That's when you can relax again and exhale.
I know a few marriages that men have to women with PCOS and they are great marriages. |
